I have gone to this bar on multiple occasions every occasion has been different, but whenever the younger women are working they always are the best servers and the kindest I would definitely recommend this bar if they are working. Also, please give them the biggest tip possible I understand the location is not the best location for servers, but these women do the best they can, and they’re always very accommodating, but the older women that works there seems to be very racist and make you feel very unwelcome. I would go there more if I didn’t feel the intense racism as soon as I walk in the door or maybe she is just under pressure? (when the older woman is working, sorry but if you are a coloured female who has gone there I know you know). They also support local artists so I won’t completely put this business down but if they worked on the racism part I would definitely spend more money and more time there. This is not a hate post but more of just some constructive criticism… anyways good luck and hope you all succeed and realize not every coloured person is a bad person. I don’t think I will go here much longer unless the younger lady is working. She’s the best. Give her big tips if she does her best cause 17th isn’t the easier place to...

I was almost assaulted by the kitchen help last Saturday while singing karaoke. She first started heckling me screaming obscenities to the top of her lungs. I said nothing as I sat down at my table she followed me and screamed inches from my face. She then tried to grab my purse trying to kick me out of the bar. Again, I said and did nothing. I kept as calm as possible as I have PTSD and I went into survivor mode. She kept watching me and yelling across the bar at me. She finally left when she knew she failed to kick me out. All because she doesn't like me. The owners have done nothing. Update: The owners still will not address what happened. Maybe because the kitchen help is related to one of the owners. I never would have thought they would ignore someone being threatened in their establishment. Shows the maturity and ignorance of the crowd there. Side note: the only time its busy there is the Sunday jam. If they don't like you, they won't get you up to sing. Same people, same boring hillbilly music every time. Service is terrible. This place...

Well after 15 minutes of waiting for a waitress to order we had to ask if there was one for our table. An hour after and only having 2 beers that were supposedly a pint, they definitely were not pint glasses. The amout of head coming out of the tap shows that the tap is not set up properly. When you need to pour out 3/4 of the glass because it's all foam the aeration of the beer is not right. Then wait another 45 mins for the food and they don't get the order right it's pretty hard to like the place. The food was ok but the waitress must be having a bad day. She was pretty rude but what do you do. Not sure I'd make the effort to come here again.

Been coming to this bar for a long time. Seen it go through some bad times and good times, but if you are looking for a down to earth no frills bar, then this is the place for you. One of the only places in the city still to serve beer in ice cold glasses, comfort food menu (perogies are the best!), and still have live music and jams. Seniors doing a turn on the wood dance floor with younger crowd, can't be beat. Beer and food are still one of the lowest cost in town. Many say its a dive or a biker bar...however its one of the only bars where I felt like family and was treated such - can't be said for the more "upscale" bars.

My wife wanted to hit a pub with live music so i picked this pub from Google maps. No cover charge and plenty of free parking. Live music was awesome from White Willie Brown band. Many friendly patrons & employees with a chill crowd. Wife was happy and we both had a great time! Would return on our next visit to Calgary!
