Alpha Bar & Restaurant — Restaurant in Calgary

I’ve been searching for a great Ethiopian restaurant in Calgary ever since Marathon closed, and it’s been tough to find one that truly delivers on authenticity and flavor. Having spent a fair bit of time traveling through Ethiopia, I’ve developed a strong palate for the cuisine, and Alpha Bar and Restaurant absolutely nails it.

I was especially excited to find shiro tegabino on the menu—something I’ve struggled to find here—and it was phenomenal. Rich, flavorful, and perfectly textured, just as I remember from Ethiopia. We also ordered the yetsom beyaynetu (vegetarian platter), and every single dish on it was fantastic.

Pricing is also very reasonable.

I had an awesome experience here and the food was excellent! I did have some drunk, bummy looking guy harass me for an hour straight though. His name was 'kale' I think.
