Let me set some context. Brace yourself. My husband LOVES chick-fil-a from when we used to live in the states years ago, a which point, I had never had it, nor the desire to. Fast forward a few years to November 2024. My husband and I go to visit Michigan and while there my husband and our dear friend convince me to try chick-fil-a. And honestly, I was fairly generous when giving my unofficial 2 star rating to my husband and our friend after our meal hahaha. The service was terrible, the food sucked (was almost gross) and there was not an ounce of hospitality. I grappled with the thought that maybe my expectations were too high coming into it because I had heard such great things? But retrospectively, it was honestly just bad. After that meal, I practically swore off ever going back to chick-fil-a.
My husband had been hinting at returning for weeks and when his birthday came up, I tried my best (failed hahaha but I tried) to surprise him with a meal from is fav US fast food joint. The line was long, yes, but totally pleasant and to be expected cause everybody out here wants chick-fil-a! When I got to order, the girl on other side was extremely kind, offered suggestions while remaining concise and professional, and made sure to show some of that well loved hospitality I heard so much about!! I arrived at the ordering window about 10-15 minutes before they closed, and for someone to be that pleasant at the end of their shift was such a welcomed surprise. I got my food fairly quickly and headed home, dinner in hand. When I sat down to eat, I was actually shocked at how much better this meal was than my last experience. I ENJOYED the lemonade very much (first time was roughhhh), the grilled chicken sandwich was delicious and just the right size🤌🏼, I really loved sneaking bites of my husbands original chicken sandwich, and the shake was super yummy!! The only thing I don’t love is the fries, but at this point, I think that’s just a me thing. I even sent a video to our dear friend telling him that chick-fil-a has been redeemed. 🥳 All of that very long context to say, thank you Calgary chick-fil-a for offering a wonderful representation of this company, serving yummy food, and doing it with such pleasantness. I am excited to...
Read moreFirst time visit. Won't be the last. We told our wonderful order cashier it was our first time. She welcomed us warmly. She explained menu items and sauce choices for the side. Great service!
The WHOLE restaurant was spotless. Ordering area, tables, condiment bar, floor, and bathrooms. Spotless! Each of the tables had a tiny pumpkin and a vase with little fall inspired colored flowers. Nice touches! I've never seen that at any faster service food restaurant.
We ordered the Pretzel Club. One with grilled chicken and one spicy breaded. The buns were fresh, soft, and delicious. The chicken beasts were tender. The cheese was real cheddar. The lettuce and tomatoes were both fresh. What a difference all of this makes together. My husband had the spicy buffalo sauce and he liked it so much he pocketed the second one to take home. I had the Chick-fil-A sauce. It was wonderful with a slightly Smoky taste. We both had the waffle potatoes. They were cooked perfectly. I love they left the skin on. I'm not sure if we got the chocolate chip cookies because it was the one year anniversary celebration of this particular store. But regardless, they were really appreciated by us and so delicious. If I wouldn't have known we were getting them in a restaurant, I would have assumed someone made them in their home.
I told my husband this is now my 'go to' over others in the area. We live a long way from this location. But, this is where we will choose to eat when we are in the SE Calgary when wanting faster food. The food was so, so fresh. The cleanliness! The service! We also love Chick-fil-A policies, ETHOS, and closing on Sundays. We spend a lot of time in the USA and our friends can't say enough about Chick-fil-A. And now, we know why!! Thank you!
We also ordered some of the nuggets for our four-legged companions. They gave us All Paws Up regarding...
Read moreI recently visited Chick-fil-A and had a mixed experience. To start with the positives, the menu is great — plenty of tasty and reliable options that make Chick-fil-A a go-to for many people. I’ve always liked the quality of their food, and this visit was no different in that regard. Also, I want to mention that the store itself was very clean, including the washroom, which is something I always appreciate when dining out. It shows that the staff and management care about hygiene and presentation.
However, the service left a lot to be desired this time. The store was quite busy when I arrived, so I opted to place a takeout order rather than dine in. There was already a long line just to place the order, and it took about 10 minutes to get through that alone. When I got to the counter, I placed my order and specifically asked for a vanilla milkshake. Unfortunately, the staff didn’t take note of that part of my order — or it wasn’t entered properly — because after waiting another 10 minutes for my food, there was no shake included.
At that point, I didn’t want to go back and wait all over again just to explain the situation. I figured it might actually be faster to go through the drive-thru and just order the shake separately. That turned out to be a bit of a mistake. Even though this Chick-fil-A has two drive-thru lanes, the wait time was still around 15 minutes. The staff seemed a bit overwhelmed and slow in general, especially considering how efficient Chick-fil-A usually is known to be.
So overall, the food met expectations, and the cleanliness of the store was excellent — but the long wait times and the missed shake definitely impacted my experience. Chick-fil-A usually sets the bar high for fast food, but this visit didn’t quite hit the mark. Hopefully, the service improves with better staffing or training, because it’s a place with...
