Racism and discrimination at this place is at another level. I now have 10s of people that contacted me with similar stories. YOU ARE NOT WELCOMED IF YOU ARE NOT WHITE. Even white people told me that’s also what they expect when they go there.
I usually go to Ranchman’s as it’s just a block away from my house but what happened last night was disgusting.
I entered the bar at 11:10PM and ordered a Corona. At around 11:30PM, a security guy named Joseph came to my table and said they will not serve me any more alcohol because you are drunk. I was confused and I said you must be mistaken as I arrived less than 30 mins ago and that was first drink I had in the whole week but the guy said he doesn’t care and that’s his bar and he can do whatever he wants. I told him to check with the security guy at the door and he would tell him that I just got inside or talk to my server and she would tell you that was my very first drink that I’m still drinking but he said again he doesn’t care and that’s a private property and he doesn’t need a reason to ask me to stop drinking. That if he doesn’t want me to drink there, I will not drink there. I realized that I probably have a bigger issue with that security guy and I stopped talking to him. My white friend that just arrived told the security guy that he is just racist and that they have that reputation toward black people and we decided to leave. I have never been that humiliated and disrespected in my entire life. I have been going there regularly as my house is literally a block away and have that security guy treating me like that was just outrageous.
As a club owner myself, I feel terrible holding an entire establishment responsible for the actions of a single security guy but I feel like it’s a big issue that must be addressed.
My friend Jamaal that’s another security guy there knows I barely drink and he would have never treated me like that. I told that guy Joseph to talk to Jamaal but he said he is Jamaal’s boss and he can’t tell him anything. My friend asked to talk to a manager but he said we will not talk to anyone. We left as there was nothing else for us there.
If that’s a behavior that’s endorsed by the establishment itself, I would rather know that so I don’t ever come back there if we are not welcomed. Can’t believe in 2025 we still deal with such ignorant people who should have never been in that position.
I hope this will be addressed and appropriate actions will be taking so this never happens again to anyone else and just then I will remove...
Read moreThis isn’t the first time I’ve experienced this there and I’m very positive it won’t be the last, The girl that so calls herself a « Manager » with long black hair on the bigger side and with the rudest customer service voice and face, went up to get a drink over the weekend with my friends and she’s standing on the other side of the bar on her phone completely ignoring customers at an empty bar so I walk up and say “hey can I please order a drink over there” she responds very rudely “yeah one second” then I walk over thinking she would be to and still on her phone back turned to the bar so I say loudly so she can clearly hear me “can I please order a god damn drink” she then proceeded to turn around say “what did u just say to me” call security and threaten to have me kicked out? If you are a manager like you claimed you were in that moment then leave the bar and have an actual bartender working the bar or get off your phone and actually work🤠 terrible management if I do say so! I’m sure not every night is as bad as the one I experienced and I’m sure it can be a fun place but - If you are a manager why are you acting and treating people like that? Are you guys aware that everyone try’s to avoid going to her bar?😭 if you are clocked in at work you are working not on your phone or standing there arms crossed looking like you want to genuinely murder everyone, why work in a establishment where you are so miserable? Personally Ranchman's isn’t the place to go, There’s a lot of better bars in Calgary that offer line dancing and also don’t play the same music over and over again and have such welcoming staff!! It was the place to go years ago but nowadays truly not - go spend your money somewhere that is...
Read moreLast time you will ever see me there. When I got married 3 years ago in Grande Prairie I took my wife, an ex-cattle farmer there for the first time on our honeymoon. Tonight was the first time back since, we got there as the band played their last song. Watching across the dance floor of rap, we seen a screen showing the mechanical bull ride. Went straight for it, got turned around after 15 mins to go sign a waiver. She paid the $39.50 to ride the bull and signed the digital waiver after waiting 20 minutes. We wait 15 minutes to get turned around again cause she doesn’t have the approval code, even though he could see on his iPad yes she paid and was in the cue. She again went back while I watched her drink waiting 15 more minutes for the “propped up” bartender to say “just so you know, for your size and for your age, you really shouldn’t be riding the bull. “ Who wouldn’t be devastated and walk away with the last shred of dignity. After the $24 admission, $50 drinks (which we didn’t finish) and $39.50 bull ride she paid for, I tried to get that code and she wouldn’t let me not knowing the story til after we left, but seeing tears. I won’t be stepping in there ever again for any kind of refund, you made your last dollar off of us because the day I got married I vowed to honour my wife for the rest of my days, and hearing the reason after she left in tears, well I can’t say I’ll miss you either, BUT I will honour her dignity. The video is the guy before I left. The rope light is just above the bar we paid. You really shouldn’t have gotten rid of the old chuck wagons and saddles in the ceiling, there’s no...
