We were looking for some Mexican food, and this place was top of list on Google. Upon arrival there was 4 other tables. He wanted to put us right next to the other tables that were all grouped together. I asked if we could sit in the corner away from others because of my tics potentially disrupting them. His responded like it was going to make his night harder. Food : Minus 2 dollars to get just veggie tacos, but to add meet itās more than 5. It didnāt make sense. We ended up paying 25 bucks for veggie tacos. 2 tortillas, some peppers and onions, beans and rice. When my wife asked him how much less it would be to take off the meat, it felt like his response was made up on the spot. My burrito (chicken) was basically white rice and frozen pees and carrots with a tiny bit of shredded chicken. It was very oily. It came with a tiny bit of pico and a teaspoon of sour cream. The pico and sour cream was not enough to help flavor even 1/3 of the burrito. I asked for some hot sauce and he literally stopped in his tracks and was like ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ pauseā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ Okayyyyyy, acting like my request made zero sense. Instead of getting it he cleaned a table, by the time he was done with the cleaning I told him never mind because i was almost done. He said, okay lol. The kids meal was ok but they forgot a side (it comes with 2). We asked for two sides of fries instead of fries and rice and we only got one. The chicken fingers were frozen fingers, but they were honestly my favourite part. I had two of them my kid didnāt want and wished I had of ordered myself a plate of them instead of this burrito. We donāt drink often and who can afford 12 drinks? I think he was bugged about bringing us water and was taking it out on us by giving us attitude. It felt like he was sending the message youāre unwelcome instead of being happy we were there. We spent 60 bucks for a chicken burrito - no sides. 2 veggie tacos - and chicken fingers. My toddler had to go to the bathroom. He was cleaning it and said Iām cleaning lol. Itās a kid man, make it work. We had to Insist and he finally left the bathroom for my kid to take a quick pee.
Atmosphere: it was colourful with lots of windows. It was clean because cleaning trumps serving customers it seems. The music was nice in the background, but we felt rushed and put off by the server so it made the overall vibe of the place very poor.
Service: Iāve kind of pointed it out, but honestly the service needs some work. You canāt treat people like an inconvenience and expect a tip. Making my kid hold their pee⦠that was the final straw for me. Some people just drink water and thatās ok. Giving off vibes like weāre beneath you or not worth your time is super unprofessional.
We wonāt go back after our experience here. Food isnāt worth the price tag,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe two of us arrived at Tu Tierra around 6pm on a Saturday and didn't have to wait for a seat, as there were plenty of available tables. We were greeted and told to pick any table we wanted and grabbed one near the window at the rear of the establishment. There was a substantial basket of chips and medium-spicy, fresh salsa placed immediately on the table (honestly, there was enough to almost make it a meal). The menu is pretty extensive with an emphasis on authenticity and combinations. We chose the Molcajete, which is supposed to be for 2 people, but when it was delivered, all gloriously bubbling and smoking hot on the platter, there was easily enough to feed three. We were advised that they were missing a certain ingredient for the Molcajete (pork rinds) so we asked them to substitute whatever they wanted, and it turned out to be a mountain of additional veggies on top of an already large serving of beef, chicken, and mixed veggies, plus a side of rice and beans. The sauce and ingredients in the Molcajete were excellent, and my only wish would be for about 30% more corn tortillas to make it a true meal for 3. As it was, there were just enough tortillas for two of us to completely over-stuff them and still take 50% of the meal home in a box (minus the tortillas). We also enjoyed a Pacifico and lime Jarritos. I highly recommend the Molcajete for $52+GST and tip. I'm only giving 4 stars on the atmosphere because there was no gluten or dairy identifiers on the menu, which I think wouldn't be hard to add and probably should be on most menus these days. Otherwise, great food, great service, everything is super clean and bright. Oh, and check out the floor when you are there... It's really cool. Looks like...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst time visiting. Being a chef my self I eat out very occasionally. often times i find for the price i pay for many meals i could have made a more satisfying meal my self.. I have to say I am incredibly happy I made the decision to test this restaurant as i received nothing but satisfaction from both my meal and service. My order was the street sopes, amazing flavor, everything tastes very fresh very authentic, very substantial serving. It truly felt likeni was back on the resort in mexico. Beyond my order and the service i received my self, i have to add a comment asto the gentleman who greeted me. As i was waiting for my order and eating there was a young child across the restaurant from me who was clearly restless and looking for entertainment. Inbetween the gentleman rounds making sure everyone had everything they needed and wanted he went above and beyond putting in the extra effort into keeping this very chatty child happy and entertained. It was beyond refreshing to see the extra effort and kindheartedness put in by this man. A combination of both this and the ambience of the restaurant was the perfect escape from the very imperfect world we live in. Thank you very much for my meal and your service. I will be returning again very soon and very hungry.
Update Aug/2025 ... Years later I find my self atill returning frequently, never have I experienced service as amazing as that of Dianna. New favorite dish is hands down the sweet pork tostadas with a side of...
