I had a pretty poor experience here.
We made a reservation for a special event we had and when we showed up the employees didn’t know what we were talking about and looked at us like we were stupid because they don’t take reservations.
Later in the night a few of us had just gotten some drinks and went back out to the patio when the one employee(older gentleman who was not polite the entire time we were there) came out and told us the patio was closing in 5 minutes and we had to go inside where all the tables were already full. He gave no notice of this whatsoever and just said we better hurry and get inside.
I went to pay my bill and they gave me a bill that was extremely higher than I expected. I told them it must be a mistake but the older employee just said “oh, other people have been putting drinks on your tab”. That’s my tab, not other people’s, don’t take liberties without at least asking me. We straightened out the extra drinks but the bill was still way higher than expected and after much deliberation we obviously had to pay it still. Just before I gave them my card they were like “oh it’s actually this smaller amount, we messed up. Seriously I was 10 seconds away from paying double and would have never gotten it back as I would have never known otherwise.
The younger male employee was pretty cool.
I will never go back here and I will do what I am to make sure no one I...
Read moreTl;dr: I had a great time here on the outside patio with great music. Would definitely come again. Arrival: I was motioned to come to the outside patio with rock floor and sat on a just cleaned/sanitized table. The table had a clear barrier at the halfway point so I felt safe from the neighboring party. It was quite busy there at 6ish pm.
Drinks: Drink choices were clearly written on a blackboard (from where I was seated) with a QR menu to read items in detail (good online navigation too). I got the nitro stout. Before I could drink the server took it away and brought me another drink with acceptable liquid to head ratio. Kudos for that!
Vibe: Music choice was old school hip-hop/ RnB throughout the night - the best. No tvs from what I could see - which was preferable. The patio allows dogs and minors. Sometimes dogs would be loud.
Food: The food choices were great. I got the farmers (veggie) burger with side fries. Both were very tasty. Servers were attentive in seeing you needed something and brought it out promptly despite being busy.
Sustainability: Paying the bill was easy and got a paper recyclable ♻️ to go container for the fries. No styrofoam yay. Also I think my second drink was in a compostable...
Read moreWent for lunch looking to try the chicken sandwich after reading some reviews and reddit posts.
The inferno (habanero hot) chicken sandwich is definitely spicy! Like, mouth on fire, sweat your face off, need extra napkins, wished they had milk, level of spice. Sandwich was served with a nice bun with some mayo, lettuce and pickles. The chicken was crispy, but kinda on the greasy side. Couldn’t taste any other flavour other than the hot sauce.
Also got the black smoke bbq (bold & savoury) chicken sandwich. Sauce was on the sweet side. Chicken was crispy, but again, on the greasy side. Chicken was good except for the last few bites; it was super dry/overcooked, but it was pretty thin. The thicker parts of the chicken were good.
Coleslaw here was good. I’m no coleslaw connoisseur, but it tasted nice and had lots of flavour. Would recommend.
Someone else mentioned the fries are the same as Costco food court fries. Gotta say I agree. Love Costco fries, but not at $7.
Sold out of the Dandypop :(
Overall, I’d give this place 3.5 stars (rounded to 4). I’d eat here again to try the Louisiana hot chicken sandwich. Nice place, parking available, big patio, dogs allowed, clean washrooms, left...
