My wife, kids, and I decided to try the Deerhead Cafe for breakfast. While I ended up ordering lunch, we were not disappointed with our choice. If you are looking for a classic, chic, retro dinner, this place is not for you. If you are looking for a classic old school dinner like those in a small town, circa 1980's, then head on over to the Deerhead. When thinking about the Deerhead think classic truckstop dinner, minus the tractor traillers. While the restaurant could use a deep cleaning, a look in the kitchen revealed it to be clean. The menu is basic and very affordable. The food was good quality and everyone was happy with their choices. My wife went with two eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and toast, while I had a bacon cheeseburger deluxe (learned that deluxe mean't it included french fries). The true charm of the Deerhead Cafe is the staff, they are extremely friendly and make you feel welcome. We are definitely happy we tried out the Deerhead and will...

Outside, the lack of refurbishment adds to the overall charm of this local favourite diner, with regulars coming and going throughout the morning to early afternoon.

Walking into the Deerhead is like walking back in time. Who knows when or if it was ever renovated. The walls are decorated with mounted deer heads, bulletin boards and menus are filled with old business cards that were left behind throughout the decades, the food is above average, and the service is sub-par. This all ads to the charm of the old diner.
Patrons include old trucker-type dudes, hipsters and families. You will find myself there for brunch on the weekend. I always order the 2 eggs and bacon with a side of sausage - it is just like eating breakfast at grandmas house. My boyfriend prefers the pancakes, which are huge and fluffy and delicious.
When you decide to join us, don't forget to bring cash! They do not take cards of any sort. There is an ATM just up Edmonton Trail...
