HAPPY CUP Woodbine — Restaurant in Calgary

I have lived in woodlands over 43 years, been a to Happy Cup in Woodlands over a half a dozen times, Felt very uncomfortable at my last 3 visits! The person who is serving had a visible favoritism towards the white customers, has been rude to me whenever I have been there, this person’s rude attitude towards serving me escalated on my last 3 visits. On my last visit the September 10th, Thursday, 2020 late in the afternoon after spending a week at the mountains as part of my holidays, before I got home, I stopped by Happy Cup to get a fruit smoothie with black pearls for a treat. There was a white lady customer with 3 red smoothies being served, I thought they looked very good I asked her what kind they were, she told me they were a mix of strawberry, peach and banana, so I told the server that I would like to have the same. First I paid for it as usual protocol ( $8 ), I told him that I only like black pearls, with it, first not only he completely ignored me, I had to stop him when he was putting some kind of jelly into my cup, told him that I would like the black pearls, he was very much annoyed and said to me that he already asked me for it and I said I do not want the black pearls, I said nothing about his rudeness while I watched him do my smoothie, he used a mixer with an orange leftover puree of something in it and he tasted it twice, before he adjusted the ice and the sugar, at that time I told him this very orange yellowish smoothie, does not look like the strawberry, peach and banana like the previous white lady customer had, also I never seen him put any of these fruits to the mixer, his response to me was “ it is okay, you will like it “. After I got home, I tried it and it tasted like a watery yam ( I do not like yams ), so I ended up throwing it in to a garbage. So today; In the late afternoon in front of his white customers I told him that, I lived in Woodlands about a half a century ( over 43 years ) and I never had any merchant treated me like the way he treated me on my September 10th, visit! I also told him if he did not like my kind of customers, he should have a sign on his window, saying “ Whites Only ” ! And I let him know that I will not step in to his store ever again! I am an extremely well educated over 30 years professional who raised twin sons as a single mother who are now an Intensive Care Specialist fighting the covid-19 pandemic daily on the front lines! I found it very sad in Woodlands that we have such a business-like Happy Cup which is prejudiced! I hope to see someday, it will have a new owner, with more worldly attitude like the rest of Woodlands and Woodbine...

I've been coming to this bubble tea place since it opened up, and I've gotten to know the owners a bit over the years! Its truly a remarkable achievement what they have built together, building this successful small business up that serves the highest quality bubble tea I've ever had!

They have a trick to it; they re-make the pearls many, many times a day to ensure they aren't soggy! Also, they NEVER use syrup, it's ALL fresh fruit! The sheer amount of fruit they must go through boggles the mind, but its what makes their drinks both healthy and incredibly delicious!

This is easily the top bubble tea joint out of all I've ever tried. The love they put into each and every cup makes it possible. Try it out for yourself, you won't be disappointed! My favorite is the avocado and honeydew. It's like a delicious light meal, but goes down so...

I LOVE this adorable place. Real fruit boba and so delicious. It’s honestly my favourite place to get boba, nowhere else even comes close to the quality and consistently of Happy Cup. Staff are always lovely, patient and helpful. Cute little spot where you get to sit amongst the fresh fruit, and close to Fish Creek and the Reservoir (south). Very easy access from the ring road.

Every treat time Happy Cup is #1! My favourites: Avocado-coconut with lychee jelly, Taro-coconut with coconut jelly, orange-pineapple with strawberry boba. Next time I’m trying pineapple-coconut with coconut jelly, and the time after that, watermelon with lychee jelly/boba. I don’t believe it’s possible to make a bad choice off the menu.
