THE NIGHT THAT NEVER WAS...
On May 7th evening, my friend and I stopped in at the Red Crowns (Three Crowns) Pub for a drink and a bite. When we (two senior ladies) came in, we approached the bartender (a blonde woman in her 40s or 50s) and asked her for a table. She pointed at one. I asked if there were any specials that evening, and she said the steak sandwich was on special. I asked her if it was any good, and she said that yes, it was. We took our seats at the table the bartender had indicated.
A couple minutes later, the bartender approached, carrying a tray with two glasses of red wine on it. We informed her that we hadn't ordered any wine. (The friend I was with hadn't had a glass of wine for 8 years - she is a beer drinker, as am I.) The bartender didn't take kindly to this relevant piece of information, and pointed at the door, saying "GET OUT". In the meantime, a gentleman a few tables back was trying to get her attention, but she was too busy chucking us out to see what he wanted. My guess is that the wine was for him and his date.
The bar wasn't full - only three deuces in it when we arrived (and when we left minutes later!). I have no idea what got into the bartender, but suspect she may have been sampling her product(?).
It's unfortunate, as the bar is minutes away from our house by foot (our local), and the reviews are good. Just wondering what other patrons of the establishment did to actually get civil service. Perhaps we should have picked a different night? It certainly wasn't due to her being overworked.
It was an interesting event though - the first and only time either of us were ever thrown out of a bar! Makes a good story for...
Read moreCame here on a Tuesday at around 12:30pm for lunch. This was my first visit as several people in my apartment told me about this pub as they come here to eat and drink often.
Place was clean, I was welcomed as soon as I walked in and had a menu and drink order placed within a couple minutes. The girl who served me (tats on both her arms) was very friendly and knew the menu and daily specials very well.
I had a chicken wrap with fries and gravy. The gravy was dark and thick, just the way I like it. Fries were cooked to perfection and very fresh. The portion was a bit on the small side, I would suggest 20% more on the plate. The chicken wrap was fresh and flavorful. Very well made. Food is easily a 5/5, however I was expecting slightly larger portions.
Service during my stay was excellent. I never had to go searching for my server 5/5. I enjoyed the fact the music (radio playing on overhead speakers) was at a suitable volume that you could talk to others or just sit and think. Overall a very warm and comfortable atmosphere 5/5.
I look forward to dropping by...
Read moreI lived in Woodlands ( practically across the pub ) about half a century tonight was the first time I have ever been there! My neighbour of 25 years took me out for dinner to the pub! I very much enjoyed the fish and chip dinner! I am excited to bring my other friends to the pub to try their different specials! I also found out that, you can take out meals too! Their prices are so reasonable that, it is not worth cooking at home which would cost more! Kudos to the owner, for making the pub very neighborhood friendly even though it took me very long to discover! Can’t wait to go back! Was back last ( August 11th, 2023 ) , last night with a guest, she loved everything, especially when she won the prize playing musical bingo! I very much ch enjoyed the Guinness dip with with garlic pita appetizer! Everything you order have huge portions, so end up taking some with me! Lovely place for “date” nights to the next week, will try an...
