Upscale eatery, new neighborhood gem. We went specifically for the prime rib. Reviews said decor isn’t fancy which is correct but it matches the eatery name and was quite comfortable. Great food to boot!
Prime rib was a very generous serving for $35 w/puffy yorkshire and crispy fluffy roast potato as well. We splurged having wine as well and took cheesecake home to have dessert later but we don’t usually have all that.
I put it in the $40-50 category for today’s meal but menu items range from about $8-35 before tax and tip so it would be easy to eat for under$20 all in depending on what you choose.
Menu is small but varied and we will definitely go back to try other dishes, particularly the beer cheese soup.
We were there early and it got 3/4 full before 6:30 so it has quickly developed popularity.
Staff were friendly and attentive.
Looking forward to many more visits. Cheesecake is calling…
For now there is plenty of parking but other shops in the mall area are not occupied yet except for the hair salon. Depending on types of tenants that move in, parking could become an issue but there is additional parking available on the side street. For now there are several spots directly in front of their space.
It is close enough that we will...
Read moreThe Canadian Eatery is a welcome addition to our neighborhood. It’s a cozy bistro-style spot, and from the moment we walked in, the staff were very welcoming and attentive.
The menu is comically varied, featuring advertised specialties like jerk chicken, prime rib, and poutine. (And much, much more.) I was skeptical at first, but after trying the food, I’m convinced the talented chef(s) can pull it off — even if the degree of variety is a bit unusual.
I had the prime rib special with root vegetables and Yorkshire pudding. My wife ordered the Tuscan green salad with added chicken and was pleasantly surprised to receive a full chicken breast. Both dishes were tasty and well-presented.
I am not the first to observe that the ambiance didn’t quite match the quality of the meal. For example, the paper napkins felt out of place considering the impressive level of the dishes. For us, good food will always win the day — and that’s what you ought to expect here. And, if I ordered pizza, it would have a different vibe.
Here’s the bottom line. We need more restaurants like this in the area, so The Canadian Eatery is much appreciated. We’ll definitely be back to try more...
Read moreJust had the pleasure of enjoying The Canadian Eatery this evening! The new best kept little secret in Woodbine. The lamb shank was fabulous, the vegetable accompaniment was spot on and unique. My husband had a Caprese salad with a steak, it was far from your chain or diner restaurant salad, again unique and delicious. Plating was beautiful. We were greeted and welcomed by a lovely passionate gentleman owner 1, then after our meal, the chef, owner 2 obviously hidden in the back, came and spoke with us. What an absolute pleasure, this duo wants to integrate into the neighbourhood by offering quality food in a comfortable dining space, that is family friendly. With the right ambience (coming soon), plants, pictures and dimmer lights, this will also be a wonderful date night destination. In conversation we learned they are working on a website, social media presence and hoping that satisfied patrons will tell their friends. Three months in and they have nailed the food and service, I’m sure the rest will come, maybe the wine selection too. Try “The Canadian Eatery”, they welcome conversation, well for now until they are so busy a smile...
