I'd say 3.8 stars for the food and 4.4 stars for the service.
I found the food cooked to perfection and well seasoned. Not super flavourful or luxurious tasting, but like a good home-cooked meal. We ordered the fish combo (cooked to just the right moment of softness and flakiness!) and also got to taste the beef curry. I thought neither were spicy but my toddlers preferred the beef to the fish (supposedly for spiciness).
Re service: very thoughtful and relaxed. I found the waitress very thoughtful and conversational w my kids (much appreciated!). And, the restaurant seemed relaxed enough that I didn't feel inappropriate each time I got up to get yet another spoon or napkin for the toddlers. (Lest a non-parent think this self-service is a bad thing, let me say explicitly that it is not. As a parent, I love being able to get up and help myself in a restaurant! It makes me feel less constrained and less like a burden on the waitstaff...and entices me to take the family back again.)

Read moreThis is my second visit to Kabul Restaurant | Persian Cuisine, and I genuinely can’t believe this place isn’t packed every night. It’s a family-owned restaurant where everything is handmade with care, and you can truly taste the love in every bite.
From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warmth and hospitality that makes you feel like you’re visiting someone’s home rather than a business. The food is nothing short of phenomenal — rich flavors, perfectly seasoned meats, fluffy rice, and fresh herbs that remind me of authentic Persian home cooking.
Every dish I’ve tried here has been exceptional. This is, hands down, the best food I’ve tasted in Calgary — not just Persian food, but food in general.
It’s surprising that more people haven’t discovered this place yet. If you’re reading this, do yourself a favour and give them a visit. It’s rare to find a restaurant with such high-quality, handmade food at very reasonable prices.
Highly, highly...
Read moreI tried this place on a whim I wasn't sure what to expect its Afghani food. But I'm curious because I I like trying new things and they seem to have a shawarma and I'm always getting Lebanese shawarmas and lately Egyptian shawarmas so why not enough candy Shawarma right. The woman who works there is very nice she's very personable and friendly and brought me an iced tea while I watch some Afghani television. The place seems pretty empty when I'm ever whenever I'm there. But I'm sure it must get full at some point. I can't say it was great but it was good the Shawarma was good I can't say it was great because they're so many shawarmas in the city but it's really good. I guess I'm a real stickler for the visuals I like to see that meat spinnin around on the heat and when you don't get that visual there. But I tried this dish that I posted a picture of it was a lamb dish. It was good. I would eat...
