The only item worth eating in this restaurant is their beef ribs. The best ribs. If your looking for good indian food this is NOT the place to go. The butter chicken is below average and all their Curry's. Essentially this restaurant has Hybrid flavors of east African indians and indian. The masala chai was watery condense milk with some masala. The chai was not Indian style with milk and black tea. the samosa was also sour and minty almost within the filling. It seems they used frozen veggies to make the vegie samosa filling. The owner is very nice and staff are friendly. The owner probably never felt a need to improve the dish quality because the crowd that eats here maybe really does not know what indian food is really and are happy with what they get. In summary this place is not a place to go to for indian food or kebabs. This places is definitely best place to go for beef ribs in Calgary. I have eaten africaner and safari grill . The ribs in tiffin is the best. A good balance of black pepper and red pepper and smokey flavor. I just request and hope they would use good quality halal meat. That would help move the flavor, hygeine and customer base for the ribs. Halal meat will have less if a iron and blood flavor in the meat as the blood is all drained out which makes the meat cleaner also. Use good quality halal prime ribs. This place has a lot if potential but unfortunately they did not improve any of their other dishes. I have been going to...
Read moreThere are lots of better places to go in the city for this type of food. I recently ordered their kabobs and when I got home they were all uncooked inside. It's a 20 min drive from my home to the restaurant and 20 minutes home. They asked me if I wanted to come back but I told them no since the rest of the food would be cold. The manager called me the next day he looks like mr. Potato and thinks like him too. First he told me the kabobs weren't. Pink but that was the masalas they use. Lol!!!! I hate being lied to. I explained to him that I know the difference from masala and uncooked ground beef... then he proceeded to tell me there is nothing wrong with eating pink kabobs. I GUESS THIS STORE DOESN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT SEMINELA IS!!! Then he said he would speak to the owners and call me back. Well he never did and I ended up calling him. AND I QUOTE THIS IS MY FAULT AND WE AREN'T DOING ANYTHING FOR YOU. YOU MADE EXCUSES NOT TO COME IN AND HAVE THEM REPLACED THE DAY OF SO SAD SO BAD.
AFRICAN IS MUCH BETTER IN SERVICE AND FOOD QUALITY
SO IS SAFARI GRILL WHICH IS ACROSS THE STREET.
AND NOW THE NEW PLACE CHA CHA.
IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR SEMINELA IN YOUR FOOD AND LIKE TO BE TALK DOWN TO THEN THIS IS THE BEST PLACE IN CALGARY TO GO!!!
IMAGINE ALL THIS NONSENSE FOR...
Read moreHighlight...the staff was lovely. Lows...the food. It smelled great upon entering and the reviews were good so we were hopeful. To say this was disappointing is a massive understatement. Samosas were mass made, frozen, stale and tasteless. We got them 20 minutes after we ordered and recieved our other food. I suspect the microwave us busy here. I had a butter chicken that was so watered down and devoid of flavor that it may as well have been have been wet, unseasoned chicken (the chicken was moist however). Seasoned rice was...well white rice colored yellow with frozen peas and carrots...flavor free again. My company got twice the rice I did. Roti was served to us unfried, not poofed up, cold...like a pita out of a bag. Mango chutney had flavor...horrible, putrid flavor...don't do it. This was the whitest, untastey Indian food ever and I can only imagine the good reviews were from people who think plain, boiled potatoes are a culinary treat. Save some money and eat crackers instead...they have more flavor. My diet...
