A New Star in Calgary’s Food Scene – Masala Art Kitchen and Bar

We had the immense pleasure of dining at Masala Art Kitchen and Bar on Saturday, April 5th, and wow—what an experience! Only three weeks into opening, and this place is already cooking like it’s been a beloved neighbourhood gem for years.

The first thing that stands out is the flavour explosion. Seriously—your mouth will go on a full-colour fireworks display of taste. Every dish we tried was rich, vibrant, and absolutely packed with flavour. And there was so much food! Generous portions across the board—so come hungry (or come with friends to share, because you’ll definitely want to try everything).

One of the biggest wins for me, personally, is how they cater to all spice levels. I’m someone whose fingernails break into a sweat at the mere mention of chili, but the team at Masala Art totally understood the assignment. Every dish we ordered was seasoned to perfection—bursting with flavour, but tailored to our heat preferences without losing authenticity.

It’s rare to find a new restaurant this polished right out of the gate. If you’re a fan of Indian cuisine—or if you’ve been hesitant to try it because of spice levels—Masala Art Kitchen and Bar is the place to go. This isn’t just a good Indian restaurant; it’s one that deserves to be listed among the top Indian dining spots in Calgary.

You will not be disappointed. In fact, you’ll be planning your next visit before the table is cleared.

We ordered Starter: Dahi Bhalla

Main Course: Mango Chicken Chicken Biryani Garlic Naan Coconut Rice

Drinks: Mango...

A Must-Visit Spot for Authentic Indian Cuisine – Masala Art, Calgary NW

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Masala Art, located at 2 Royal Vista Link NW #1110, Calgary, AB T3R 1N9, and I can confidently say—it’s an absolute gem!

From the moment we stepped inside, the warm and inviting ambiance set the tone for a wonderful evening. The interior is beautifully decorated with vibrant colors and intricate artwork, creating a cozy and authentic atmosphere that instantly makes you feel welcome.

The service was exceptional. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely cared about our dining experience. Our server made sure our glasses were never empty and checked in at just the right times—professional yet personable.

We started with a Mango Lassi, which was smooth, refreshing, and perfectly balanced in sweetness. For our main, we ordered the Navratan Korma, and it was nothing short of amazing. The vegetables were cooked to perfection, and the creamy, flavorful sauce was rich and comforting without being overly heavy. Generous portions and fair pricing made the experience even better.

To finish things off, we shared a serving of Gulab Jamun—warm, soft, and decadently sweet. The perfect ending to an already memorable meal.

If you’re in Calgary and craving high-quality, authentic Indian food, Masala Art is a must-visit. From the food to the service to the ambiance, everything was spot on. Highly...

We had a late night after a hockey dryland, My son and I were starved and wanted to eat something flavourful and tasty. We drove around the Royal Vista area until we discovered this Indian restaurant that we never noticed before. We took a chance. And we were not disappointed. Our palates were satisfied and the warm hospitality from the staff just made our day. We were so hungry and ordered a lot more than 2 people can eat. We had vegetable samosas, mango lassi, tandoori chicken, chicken malai tikka. Fish pakora, daal makhni, garlic naan and plain rice. It turns out I forgot to take pictures of the beautifully presented foods. This is unusual for me but I guess it explains how hungry we were that we jumped right into eating. They not only helped us packing all our leftovers, Mr.Prakash came out and chatted with us. They were closing but didn’t make us feel rushed to get out. To our surprise, he packed a box full of Laddu (a type of Indian sweet) for a complimentary take out. My 10 year old was so moved by this warm gesture. Not only our stomach was full so were our hearts. The space was clean, simple and well kept. 2 clean bathrooms and good sitting capacity. Portion was great for the price we paid. We made 4 more meals out of our leftovers. We will definitely be back! Thank you for your great...

I ordered here twice from Uber eats and it is hands down my favourite Indian restaurant in Calgary. The staff was super friendly and accommodating when calling in to place my order as I was confused with the location and wanted to ensure it was the NW location. The food is bursting with flavour, it’s not greasy, the portion sizes are quite big and the containers have always been filled to the brim bursting with food unlike some other restaurants that barely fill their containers. This restaurant offers the best bang for your buck. I would have attached more pictures for reference of how filled the containers are but forgot to take them. This is one of the few restaurants I look forward to eating at whenever it’s my turn to pick out the restaurant for eating out. I highly recommend trying the biryani, chicken kathi roll, shahi paneer, kadahi chicken and the paneer tikka masala with their delicious garlic naan. You can’t go wrong eating here! Do beware of the spice level, I made the mistake by picking spicy and they actually delivered.

Thought i would give this restaurant a try as it is close by and support local business. Sorry to say the food was not up to expectation. Butter chicken was very very sweet, could only eat the chicken, sauce to sweet for my liking, thin consistancy, not creamy as other restaurants. Malai kofta was also very thin sauce, and a mere 3 piece of malai kofta in oddly shaped rectangle pieces. Only item which was acceptable was the fish curry. But what most prompted me to leave a review here is, their deceptive pricing policies. After looking at receipt once i got home....Menu clearly states price of fish curry and butter chicken @ $15.95 & malai kofta @$14.95. Upon presenting the coupon for 25% off....the price for fish curry went to $17.95, butter chicken $16.95 & malai kofta $15.95!! Why offer 25% off when you will not honour the coupon and play with the prices to make it seem like you are receiving the discount...but in actual fact are not! First & last visit to this restaurant
