Not very good. Saw ads online and that they were “award-winning” in Halifax so had to try. Got a beef donair plate and a chicken shawarma wrap. Beef donair plate - donair meat was ok seasoned enough but more on less savory side, rice was not basmati rice as you usually get from other shawarma shops here, it was like uncle bens short-grain fried rice with chopped carrots and peas. A bit odd and seemingly unauthentic (if compared to other shops here as i never been to Lebanon, but this is the only place i seen to not have basmati/long grain rice). Chicken shawarma wrap - they just used old chicken that was sitting there all day, not freshly cut off the spinner. Therefore it was dry, probably the driest chicken I’ve had at a restaurant, where some bits are almost like jerky and has that hardened plastic-y exterior. Sauces were ok, flavor profile similar to anything you’ve had from a donair foodtruck.
Service was good but slow (the person assembling the wrap was moving in slow motion lol). Restaurant seemed clean and well kept.
Honestly, not sure whos giving the awards out there but i assume Halifax’s food scene is nothing like here. If NW is your area, drive another 5 mins for Baladis in Sage hill, or Shawarma Palace in Carrington which is known as the shawarma chain in town. If you’ve had Pita Basket, Jerusalem, or you got your own favourite spot already, I dont think Mezza is topping it or coming close.
Despite this review, i do hope improvements are made (most importantly not using day-old dried up chicken) and wish you the best on having continuing success here. It...
Read moreFirst time and most likely will go back to try other items on the menu. The atmosphere is nice, the service is great however the food is okay, let me elaborate. I ordered the Mezza platter just to try a little bit of everything and honestly it was not to bad. The donair, hummus, salad were tasty but sadly both chickens the chicken souvlaki were dry and not edible. I also ordered falafels those were to dry. The sweets were delicious highly recommend the crunchy chocolate bar. Here is my constructive criticism. Guri you’re an amazing person, just make sure when customers place their order prepare everything right there and then. DO NOT give your customers food that’s been sitting there for a while. It will become dry and it’s not good for your business. Overall wishing you the very best. Please check them out and support...
Read moreWhat a great place for a quick bite. I've visited this place a few times now and have officially formulated my opinion on it. Chicken and donair are both fresh, however I liked the chicken more when I ordered the fries bowl. When it comes to their fries.. I have to say, they're very well seasoned. You can taste the paprika and all the other spices which shows how much they dont skip on seasoning. For their wrap I liked the donair more just because the bread they have complements it well with the added sauces. I didn't get a picture of the wrap, I did get a picture of the bowl I ordered. The order is custom though so if you wanted to order the same thing, get the chicken on fries with tahini sauce, hot sauce and pickles on the side. Over all great place and so far it hasn't disappointed and the staff are...
