AVOID THIS PLACE. RUDE WORKERS. I was looking for a bagel spot this morning and came across this place. I was frustrated by the lack of pictures of their product and what they served as it looked scarce, so I wanted to take pictures. They opened up at 9am on Saturday and I arrived there at 9 45am. When I arrived, they were out of poppy seed, cinnamon raisin and rainbow bagels... at 9 45am. What type of business establishment runs out in less than the 1st hour. The lady said that they were focused on making more poppy seed and rainbow when I asked her the ETA on the cinnamon raisin, so no telling when that would be available. Anyway, I decided to take pictures of the lack of offering and I hear an attitude voice saying no pictures and how it's illegal. I told her that I know the law quite well and it's not illegal for me to take pictures and then she changed her tone as there are no signs posted. She asked if it was my first time, I said yes, and I won't be back. She then responded: we don't mind if you don't come back. I said: I can tell you don't mind if I don't come back.
Back to the sandwich I actually ordered (she was making it as we spoke about the pictures), it basic. Bagel itself is nothing special, it's on the smaller side of most bagels and smoked salmon is from President's choice brand. It wasn't worth the $10 honestly. You can buy all of the ingredients and make more.
Because of her attitude, I am going to post the pictures that I...
Read moreWhat you will get here:
A decent Montreal bagel at a solid price, plain, or with lox/smoked meat OR frozen bagels to take home, they may have some specialty bagels available, they might not have any bagels available.
If you wanted me to give you the closest reference I can as to what to expect from this shop, I'd recommend you watch the Seinfeld episode about the soup guy, he makes soup, you buy it, you eat it. Except with bagels. No frills.
What you will not get here:
A restaurant experience, this is a store solely to sell bagels, not to impress you, don't expect to sit down or stay here, this is very much a go in and get your bagel and leave place, this seems obvious to me but other reviewers seem to be mistaken about the function of this place.
A consistent menu: as far as I can tell, the owners make what bagels they want, when they want, if that upsets you, I'd recommend you turn around and find another bagel place, or go earlier in the morning because they will sell out extremely fast, additionally you will have to keep in mind that they are a small business selling cheap bagels so they don't really have the privilege to keep 100s of pounds of food waste like your local Timmie's to constantly have stock on.
The negative reviews are biased by people who don't understand what kind of joint this is and did not fully explain the...
Read moreSo tough to know what to say about this place on the one hand? Amazing, authentic, Montreal Bagels to die for! On the other question mark dang, these guys have to be the worst business people I have ever encountered. On multiple occasions I have gone there hoping to buy bagels and they just haven't had any. And no apology or offer to have some bagels shortly. Just we don't have them. Doesn't seem like a viable business model. One time I went there, it was on Christmas eve, and I had intended to have bagels for Christmas brunch, they told me to come back at a specific time and they would have my Bagels ready. Well, guess what? I showed up at the specified time, and there was a bunch of disgruntled people standing around waiting for their bagels. I just went there today, hoping to get a half a dozen bagels, just three Sesame and three Poppy seed, the most popular ones, and guess what? No bagels. I feel like these guys could do so much better if they turned this place into a bougie little spot. Get an espresso machine. Open up their bathrooms to their customers. Sell some higher-end beverages. Offer more food choices. But instead? Bathrooms are locked, bagels are out of stock, and choices are...
