Shawarma Corner — Restaurant in Calgary

This was Sinbad's Shawarma until very recently. It's a beautiful little restaurant with more seating than other shawarma places on the avenue. Under the new owner/name the menu has changed a little but they still have shawarma and platters and more options than many local places that just offer sandwiches. The flavours are a little different too: they have some yogurt-based sauces and olives as well as the usual toppings and garlic, tahini and sweet sauce. The meat has a unique spice profile that we really liked. Our food was exceptionally fresh. They put some french fries in the shawarma, which I've never had before, but it actually worked very well. Also, I can't eat Shamsane's pitas (which many of the Shawarma places in Calgary use) due to the added malt syrup (barley allergy) so the cook offered me an alternative bread that was fantastic. They also gave us some complementary lentil soup while we waited. The shawarma was enormous so I'm eating the second half for lunch today. We're looking forward to going back and trying some other dishes: the lamb and eggplant look great! Highly recommend if you like Middle Eastern food. I've been going to this restaurant for about 7 months now. I just wanna find a place where shawarma was served with care and no rush. I found it!!! In this location, food is excellent!!!

Prepared, and served with a delicate touch, on time, perfectly cleaned, and tasted soooooo good !!!!! I've been here many times with family and friends, they love it !!! And tell me they're coming back. Cleanliness is very important to me. If the place is clean, chances are food is clean. The owners have excellent customer service skills and they are very nice couple. Never had a bad experience. I'm coming back...

Went there last week with my friends, and we all loved the food a lot. We ordered Chicken Shawarma Plate, Falafel Plate, and Beef/Chicken Skewer Plate. We had a great deal; each person spent less than CA$15.00, massive portions with reasonable prices. The staff was so kind and friendly. We felt like home dining in there. I was surprised to read that recent review under the restaurant page and I didn't get why they were talking about the staff in a bad way, they sound like they haven't even tried the food, they probably have some personal issues with the owners.
