So I finally got out to try Sweet Rice, boy was I missing out!!

Celiac here, I live 10 minutes from the place and I’ve heard so many good things and I just never got around to checking them out. I finally did last night!!

So we ordered 2 chicken sandwich combos and 2 donuts (a matcha and a maple). Wow! It’s been so long since I had a good crispy chicken sandwich. It was amazing! The chicken was so crispy and flavourful and the bun wasn’t gummy or dry. It was perfect, my only recommendation is pickles on the sandwich lol.

The fries were equally as good! And it was nice to not have to worry about the fryer being cross contaminated. They were soooo crispy and perfectly salted. Slightly greasy, but not like the McDonald’s gross greasy, and I mean what can you expect, they are fries lol.

The donuts were to die for. I can’t believe with all my donut cravings I never got out to grab one before. The maple crueler was one of the best crueler donuts I’ve ever had. It literally tastes like the real thing. It’s not dry, not gummy, it’s perfect. It is literally a real donut.

The service was amazing! It was a Friday night so it was so busy and there was only 3 of them working. One up front and 2 in the back, wow they were got on their feet. They didn’t have enough fries made and brought us out some to start and even in the chaos of being busy they ran back and made us more super fresh ones! Great staff and service. I only wish there was an option on the machine to tip because they absolutely deserved it.

The atmosphere was not bad, a little cramped when it got busy and I totally get that the factory facility is right there so it makes sense that the dine in section was smaller but it would be nice for a little better seating, but not bad by any means.

I highly recommend this place whether you are celiac, gluten sensitive or just want a delicious snack. Absolutely amazing, definitely will be...

UPDATE: Their cooked food is now made fresh. Previously, I found the premade food disappointing. Since then, Sweet Rice switched to fresh made. I got the Crispy Chicken Sandwich, Popcorn Chicken, and Fries. All were made fresh and took 10 minutes. The food was excellent, fresh, and hot. I look forward to trying the other items on the menu.

I was driving by and spotted the signage. I knew my kids love mochi donuts in the US, so I made a detour.

The staff were so friendly, and one guy offered me and my eldest a sample Cookie & Cream Mochi Bite. Confirming how good it tasted, I proceeded to pick up 2 Original Glazed, 1 Chocolate Sprinkles, and 1 Black Sesame.

Off to the left is their open kotchen where we saw mochi donuts been topped up. You know this means in-house and fresh!

The Original Glazed Mochi Donut was the best! The Chocolate Sprinklea Mochi Donut was surprisingly not too sweet. The Black Sesame Mochi Donut had nice bursts of sesame flavor. The Mochi donut was the same base for all types. The texture was chewy and pleasant.

I'll be back to pick up more donuts next time! Also, gonna try their onigiri to compare to True...

Tried for the first time, donuts are really good, nice alternative to typical cake or yeast donuts elsewhere. The service however was disappointing. The owner was having a social convo with a customer as the line grew longer and longer and didn't seem to be making any attempts to cut the convo off. When the customer did finally leave, the owner just...walked away. Did he have something else to do that was more important? Maybe. Could he have made it apparent to the line and said "Ill be back I need to do this thing I'm sorry we'll get to you asap". Yes, something like that would have been redeeming.

It's often the little things that make for good service, but this was a big thing that made for bad service. I see they respond to reviews, so I hope this'll at least help them have more of a service mindset in the future, bad looks leaving your worker hung out to dry like that.

Edit: the owners response is disappointing as it just reinforces that they are unaware of how their actions during a rush are perceived and demonstrates poor customer service. Would've been here regularly if they didn't respond like...

These are the best mochi donuts I have had to date! We have tried the birthday cake which includes 15 donuts (flavors included milk tea, black sesame, mango, ubi, Pandan) and a handful of donut holes. The donut texture is soft, chewy, and most importantly, not greasy. The flavors themselves are quite easy to appreciate (the ubi is very subtle) and for the most part, not too sweet. Overall, they are quite addictive and you can easily eat 2-3 donuts on your own without noticing! The people are also very friendly. We also tried their holiday flavors (candy cane and egg nog) and will definitely hit the spot if trying to satisfy a Christmas flavor craving! EDIT Dec 5/24: They are still making awesome donuts. Some flavors have been adjusted such as the ube cheesecake and the pandan strawberry. My main complaint with these is the ube flavor has become almost indistinguishable and the strawberry flavor often overpowers the pandan. Otherwise I still quite enjoy the texture, softness and chewiness of the donut!

BEST MOCHI DONUT IN THE CITY! I know there are at least three more popular spots that offer Mochi donuts, but the way Sweet Rice made their creation is just exceptional. It’s Top Tier! First of all, it’s gluten free. Next, it’s packed with chewy goodness and not just air bubbles. Also, their flavours changes each week/month. Lastly, the whole crew were amazing and cheerful as always. As soon as it opens at 11am, there’s always a long queue line in the first hour. Too bad they’re only open Fri-Sun. But to craft such perfect desserts, I believe they needed more time to prepare for quality results. They also offer other appies like Onigiris and Musubis. Variety of drinks and coffee as well. They have indoor tables, but not a lot. I mean most patrons are in-and-out anyways. Definitely coming back for more!!
