Am not sure why others are saying it was large portions and maybe things have changed since. The rice dishes were served in small-med take out containers and reminded me of Taste of Calgary portions. The price is cheaper but you also get 1/3 or 1/2 portion of a standard size so it works out to be the same. Everything was considered to be snack/tasting size. The temperature of the beef noodle soup was extra hot and this was commendable. Noodles were made perfectly as well and not mushy. Also liked the fried onions and greens in there as it adds to the flavour. Wish there were more toppings. Only 1 beef ball cut in half and a few slices of beef. I enjoyed this dish the most but was left wanting more. This is the only one that was not served in a take out container. Flavouring of the basil pork stir fry and chicken curry flavour was good. A bit salty for the basil pork stir fry for me but some may like it this way. The spices used in the curry sauce was just right - just wished there was more chicken. Chicken skewers were the most disappointing as they tasted like steamed turmeric/curry chicken on a stick. Didn’t have any grilled texture to it. It could have been a one-off that day. Service was excellent and they cared for the needs of the customers even though it was an order/serve-yourself place. They seem to be able to manage the kitchen in a timely manner despite influx of customers. Understand this is a new small business so have relaxed my star ratings but hope they take these comments into consideration.

I found myself in the NE around lunch and was so glad l remembered they were open. Because they close early, l have never been able to come during the week. I got the wings with sticky rice and Laab. Imagine my delight that their Laab was authentic as l recognized chicken gizzards and also pork skin in the Laab, along with chopped beef. The contrasting textures of the meats with the fresh herbs and roasted rice was delightful. Regretted asking for spicy as l forgot Lao spicy is a cut above my level. The fish sauce and sugar along with the refreshing lime was a great combo. The wings came with green spicy sauce- also a lovely contrast to the flavourful wings. I really want to try all the other dishes and on the weekend, they do serve Crispy Rice salad. They also offer a larger platter with Lao sausage and other goodies, one great for sharing with a few friends. I am glad we have an authentic Lao Thai place here in Calgary.

Tried Kin Dee Lao-Thai Street Kitchen today during their soft opening. Everything was fresh and prices were great. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. Tried most of the food on the menu. Chicken satay and moo ping skewers were great, the peanut sauce that came with chicken skewers complemented the meat better than the spicy Jaew dipping sauce that came with the pork. The Laos fried chicken tasted good too. Papaya salad was a little too spicy even if you pick mild spicy so something to keep in mind. They served us complimentary iced Thai milk tea and a coconut milk dessert with fruits and basil seeds so that was nice. Overall great value and service, and a good place for a quick bite.

Kin Dee Street is an absolute gem! The menu is highly affordable, with most items being around $10. Considering the cheap pricing, the portion sizes were quite reasonable and I would say that they 100% nailed the shareable street food vibe that they were going for. We got the Basil Pork Stir-Fry, Pad Thai, Chicken Curry, Thai Tea, and Coconut Juice. All three dishes tasted amazing! The medium sizing and cheap pricing really let us try a good portion of the menu and both of us got to sample the various dishes. My personal favourite was the Chicken Curry, but again, everything we tried tasted incredible. The Thai Tea is also a stand out item. I would definitely recommend it!

I would also like to point out the highly attentive staff! Even though Kin Dee Street is an order at the front and sit down restaurant, the staff were very kind and attentive. They made sure to check in to see if our food was good, and it were generally just very kind.

Overall, our first visit to Kin Dee Street was an impeccable experience. The food was so well priced and tasted amazing. The staff were also great. I would 100% recommend this place to friends, and I already know that I'll be visiting...

I was in the area so I decided to pop in. Little family run operation but the food is outstanding! Super affordable prices, everything is pretty much under $10. Not massive portions, but in keeping with their inspiration of street food style, the portions match that. I tried the beef noodle soup which was great, as well as the pork skewers. The pork skewers with the sweet, citrusy-spicy green sauce... oh my god. So good!! They need to jar that sauce and sell it! It was so good I had to contact my wife and tell her about it, then ordered another pork skewers dish to go with an extra side of that sauce... so good. Support these guys!!! Great food, affordable, family run, friendly.

Note for the owners: it might set you back a bit in costs to register and for signage, but get into the local food shows around town (brewery and the beast, Rocky Mountain food and wine fest, Taste of Calgary, Cultural Senses of Calgary, etc). It will help get your food out and recognition for you guys!...
