Review: Fat Burger – Aviation Location

I really wanted to like this location, but unfortunately, the food just didn’t deliver. The service was excellent – friendly, prompt, and professional. No complaints there.

But when it comes to the food, it was a huge letdown. I ordered my usual – a burger and buffalo hot chicken wings – and both were honestly disappointing. The burger came out cold, lacked any real flavor, and worse, the meat was undercooked, despite clearly asking for it well-done. That alone was frustrating.

The chicken wings were under-sauced and didn’t carry any of the "buffalo hot" punch they’re supposed to have. I’ve had Fat Burger before and I know how good it can be, especially when done right. This just wasn’t it.

To make matters worse, the total came out to around $35 for a lunch that left me unsatisfied and questioning the value. Honestly, the Fat Burger location on 36th and 32nd is way better – the food there is hotter, fresher, and actually cooked properly.

At this point, if you’re in the area, you might be better off just walking across the parking lot to McDonald’s. It might not be the healthier choice, but at least the burger would be warm and flavorful. I hate to say it, but this was my second visit to the Aviation location, and once again, I left disappointed.

Once upon a midnight craving, while I wandered, solo and yearning, Over many a menu and half-hearted snack lamenting, Suddenly there came a presence—radiant, kind, endearing— It was the server, gracious and warm, my hunger swiftly banishing.

“Yo,” she said, her smile a light in my ravenous dark, Her vibe? Wholesome goddess energy. I couldn’t help but stan. Her kindness cut through my appetite’s bleak, ravening spark, And brought a gentle peace, better than any lore or plan.

Then came the burger—oh, the burger! A ghastly to-die-for vision, Juicy, perfect, haunting my taste buds with every bite. No mere meal—it was cursed in its excellence, a divine incision Carving bliss where there had been only desperate delight.

Putrid hunger met its doom; ecstasy took its place, The bun embraced the patty in harmonious, dreamy grace, And though night may fall darker than the darkest raven’s face, That burger held me captive—five-star in every case.

So here I stand, bewitched and blessed—this Fatburger’s crown, A gothic feast, poet’s dream, lit by kind souls in the town. If ye hunger for perfection—and some Gen Z glow: Go forth, Calgary denizens—Fatburger’s where you’ll find your soul.

My friend and I had lunch at this location today for the first time. We normally go to the other location in N.E. Calgary but thought we would try this location as it recently opened. I paid for our order and was a bit surprised with the request for a tip upon payment with the visa/debit machine. I hadn't seen that before and so didn’t know what was expected so I quickly put in a small amount. Upon processing my order the manager loudly yelled out "poor tip". I was still trying to grasp if this was actually said as I was removing my card from the machine. My friend confirmed it to me after we went to sit down and wait for our order.

As far as I'm concerned a tip is EARNED. Taking an order doesn't qualify for a tip- it's what is expected once I approach the counter and pull out my wallet. What qualifies for a tip is the service and the food after it has been received and consumed. Plenty of options out there like Smash burger, South Street Burger, and Five Guys - they all know how to treat a customer. Thinking back I should have asked for my money back and...
