I dined here several times during the Calgary Stampede and overall, I was very disappointed with this restaurant.
Food is very expensive for how few calories it contains. Preparation and quality of ingredients was a hit or miss as well.
The good: Ordered breakfast early (dish is called hanger - at 6ish am) and eggs were prepared soft AND were warm. Also ordered buttered chicken which was by far the best thing from their menu (actually justifies it's price). Restaurant took reservations and was clean and organized - atmosphere 5/5.
The ok: One server waits for the entire restaurant and 4 people stand behind the bar 'looking' busy. You will only get prompt service early in the morning. Expect long wait times to order and to subsequently receive your food any other time of day - service 3/5.
The bad: I ordered the avocado toast around 1pm. Avocado was cold and not even sliced. They cut the avocado in half (one half for each piece of toast) and threw an unseasoned, cold Egg on top. They charge (let's be real here they expect a tip with every order) $27 (22 + 5 for tip) for a cold avocado cut in half, a couple cold eggs, and a few bits of potato.
I also had the steak sandwich at lunch time. Thankfully this arrived warm and seasoned unlike the avocado toast, but the portion size was tiny (6oz? Of low quality steak on a thin piece of bread). Including tip, they charge $25 for this.
I tried their tonic burger as well which was warm and seasoned, again, unlike the avocado toast, but the meat just tasted off. My assumption is that they take all the poor cuts of meat they cannot make into an individual dish and just grind them up into burger patties. Food - 1/5.
I stayed at the attached hotel several nights. I'd order two entrees every time I dined, which resulted in a ~$70 bill, bad food, and me continuing to be very hungry for the remainder of my stay.
The only reason this gets 2/5 overall is b/c the restaurant was clean and organized. Food and service didn't satisfy.
If I were to stay here again I'd try the restaurant at the Westin or just order in / eat in town.
ANNA gave me a review card. She was the only server that gave me prompt service. Restaurant should still have more than one server at a...
Read moreAn outstanding experience from top to bottom. As soon as I arrived after my flight was rescheduled, I was welcomed with kindness and warmth from the lovely people at the concierge. Their friendliness made my stressful and unfortunate experience all the better, from their ability to answer all my questions to their cheerful and overtly positive mood.
The room I stayed in was by far one of the cleanest, comfiest luxury hotel room Iâve ever stayed in - despite their claims of being a 3 star hotel. The waterfall shower was definitely a highlight and the RGB lighting underneath the bed frames added that touch of sophistication.
The restaurant/bar has a casual yet vibrant atmosphere, and the service and food were phenomenal. I ordered their signature Tonic burger and it was 9/10. However, what impressed me is that it only took 7 minutes for the kitchen to send out my order, despite it being peak dinner time! Being a former cook in a kitchen, I can only be in awe, jaw dropped with that sort of turnaround.
All in all, Iâd recommend this hotel over any other, regardless if you missed a flight or not. Iâll definitely remember this relaxing and enjoyable experience and hopefully this review will encourage you to choose Clique Hotel the next time...
Read moreI canât say enough great things about Arlene at Tonic Restaurant! I travel to Calgary often for work, and every time I visit, she not only remembers me but also recalls our last conversations, making each experience feel warm and personal. Sheâs the kind of server who truly goes above and beyond, ensuring everything is perfect with genuine care and attention to detail.
Beyond the incredible service, the food at Tonic is always top-tier consistently fresh, flavourful, and perfectly executed. Whether itâs breakfast, lunch, or dinner, Iâve never had a bad meal here. Most recently, I ended up celebrating my birthday at Clique and had breakfast at Tonic the next morning. Arlene made the moment extra special by surprising me with a slice of cake and some thoughtful treats, which just speaks to the kind of hospitality she brings to every guest.
Amazing service, amazing food, and an overall fantastic...
