My wife and I celebrated our 20th anniversary at Brown’s Socialhouse in Cambridge, and it couldn’t have gone better. We went on a Wednesday night and were surprised to find the place packed – clearly a popular spot, and for good reason. The atmosphere was fantastic, with a vibe that’s just as nice inside as it is outside.
We had to wait for a table, but that was no issue. We grabbed a couple of drinks at the bar — I had the Browns Red Sangria (highly recommend!), and my wife took advantage of their half-price bottle of wine special.
For dinner, we skipped the apps and went straight to the mains. I ordered the French dip sandwich with an upgrade to their in-house special fries, and my wife had the tiki tuna poke bowl. My sandwich was generous in size, super tasty, and came with plenty of au jus — which is rare these days. The fries were crisp and came with a garlic aioli that was packed with flavor (just a heads-up, it lingers a bit). My wife loved her bowl and said it was super filling.
One really nice touch came at the end of the night — our waitress brought us a special dessert on the house to help celebrate. The funny part? She didn’t actually know it was our anniversary. She just picked up on the vibe and took a guess that we were celebrating something. That kind of thoughtful gesture really stood out and made the evening feel even more special.
All in all, we had a great experience and are so glad we chose Brown’s for our anniversary. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a fun, lively atmosphere with great food, drinks, and service that goes...

We have been fans of Brown's since our first visit in Victoria BC, and of course the Waterloo location. Everything about our first experience in Cambridge was top notch.
We were there on a Thursday at 9:15 pm and the place was almost at capacity - a GREAT sign! Side note, the parking lot of a well known restaurant next door was almost empty.
What was really eye opening was the quality (and TEAM nature) of the service we received. We asked a server, who was walking by, to have our server come by. The response was, "oh, is there something I can do to help?". We had a dietary issue at our table, and our wonderful server said she would ask the kitchen about it. Moments later a manager (who I believe is also one of the owners) came over to clarify our concern. Unfortunately the item we where asking about could not accommodate our allergy issue, and he was very professional and engaging. He asked a few questions and then made a suggestion. We agreed, and it was EXCELLENT!
The only TINY, slightly negative comment is, they had great music on, but it was way too loud. People at all tables around us (and our table) where having to shout to be heard. Not deducting anything for that, it's just meant as a suggestion.
Wishing the Brown's Social team in Cambridge...
Read moreEmbarrassingly I don’t remember who our server was but I do want to mention Candice. Two of my girlfriends came for lunch and my one friend brought her 10 month old. There’s some sort of rumour that Browns aims not to be entirely kid friendly as a preventative measure of becoming too family-friendly.. I’m not sure if there’s truth to that but in case it’s not true, I do want to share my experience.
We were immediately offered a booster seat. When we were brought to the table, Candice came over and dropped off some books for my friend’s son. She told the story of the significance of one of the books to the restaurant owner — who later came over and shared his story.
The food took a little longer than normal to come so as we got closer to baby’s nap time, he was getting fussy.. again Candice came over and brought age-appropriate food for him to snack on, as well as a container with ice in it for him to shake. She checked in several times throughout our visit and seemed to always have her eyes on our table to make sure everything was going smoothly.
As newer moms, these moments out together aren’t frequent and are often stressful.. Candice’s attentiveness to us was not only thoughtful and genuine but appreciated so much.
Thank you for your kindness Oh— the food was...
