Well, I don’t often take the time to write reviews, but, this visit was just horrendous. My son and I had spent the day on the road so when we got back into town we decided to stop in. Breakfast has always been good so we assumed dinner would be too. Not the case. I ordered a basic burger with fries. My son ordered the Cambridge Big Mac. When we received both burgers, the buns were already starting to get soggy and the fries were luke warm. The weird thing was, the middle bun of the Big Mac was half of an English muffin. I thought that it was a cheap way to have middle bun and it’s a completely different taste and texture. Considering the price, I asked the waiter why they’d use an English muffin and apparently this is normal. My son opted to pull it out. I’m no food critic but it doesn’t work. I could only eat half my burger because it got too slimy to finish and we both ate half of the fries because by that time they were stone cold. Now normally I would brush it off because I’m known to have terrible luck with food. I rarely ever say anything. I seem to be the guy that gets the hair etc… In this case, the price is that of a high end burger joint.
My burger, just the burger $13 + $5 fries + $4 coke for a total of $22. My son’s burger was $2 more but every thing else was the same for a grand total of $48 + tax came to $52 before tip. We would have rather gone to McDonald’s or Burger King which is still better quality than what we got for half the price. I knew how expensive it was when we were ordering so we expected it to be an amazing meal. Considering that the waiter was made aware, I thought there would be some sort of discount offered but there wasn’t. I also never ask for discounts and more times than not, restaurants will offer. I also boost the tip to 25-30% when it happens to put a little more into the servers pocket. They aren’t to blame for the food. Anyway, rant over, may go back for breakfast at some point but never...
Read moreMy recent visit to The Cambridge Restaurant with three friends was an experience we'd all rather forget. What was supposed to be a delightful meal that quickly turned into a frustrating ordeal. The service, or lack thereof, was the main culprit behind our dissatisfaction. It felt as though we were invisible, with minimal attention from the staff throughout our stay.
From the moment we placed our orders, things went downhill. Not only were some of our dishes incorrect, but others were missing items, a mistake we were prepared to overlook due to the excruciating wait times we endured. By the time our food arrived, our hunger had magnified to such an extent that we accepted the wrong orders without complaint, primarily because we were on a tight schedule.
Adding insult to injury, not once were we checked on by the waitstaff. There was no inquiry into our satisfaction with the meal or if we required anything else, basics of hospitality that were sorely missed. This neglect left us feeling undervalued and overlooked, a sentiment no customer should have to endure, especially in a small business setting where you anticipate a more personal touch.
The notion that small establishments tend to offer a warmer, more attentive experience was challenged on this occasion. It's a pity that The Cambridge Restaurant fell short of this expectation, making it unlikely for us to return or recommend it to others. It's a reminder that good service is the backbone of the dining experience, and without it, even the most promising meals can leave a...
Read moreI don't normally like to write bad reviews about a restaurant considering I absolutely loved this one about 15 years ago. But tonight after the lousy service and cold food served to us, I will never go back again! I took my son out for dinner because it was his birthday. We used to enjoy The Cambridge Restaurant when he was much younger and it always seemed to be busy. When you got in, your food was usually served up in less than 15 minutes from the time you sat down and ordered. And the food portions for the price were excellent! Tonight, my son and I showed up at 6:45. There was only 3 people in the restaurant and two wait staff. We ordered pops for our meals which was a hamburger, fries and gravey for me and a shawma poutine for my son! The food was finally served at 7:15 and both were cold. I was so hungry that I ate mine, but my son complained about his and his order come back over 15 minutes later... and not to his satisfaction(not much sauce on the poutine!) I did something that I almost never do, and did not leave a tip! The meal was over $52.00! I honestly could have eaten better and much cheaper at Fast Eddie's take out! I refuse to be a victim of being taken advantaged of. I am not a restaurant conaseur, but when you have less than 5 people in a restaurant, you would expect faster and better service. We actually left hungry and totally dissatisfied! I will not see the inside of it, ever again! Too bad really, it used to be a great...
