Hello! I've frequented this pub a lot lately. It has a good energetic atmosphere with lots of dark hardwood, and longtime regulars. Gets pretty busy and loud too with smiling faces, and lively conversations.
The back patio is enclosed with high wood fencing, and mood lighting, heaters for the cold, and several tables with plenty of space, but no sunlight is going to reach it in the afternoon or evening. The front patio is also nice, but without decoration. it's on the sunny side, on main street of Preston, with plenty of traffic and passersby to watch, and liven things up. However there's only a few small tables, so seating is limited.
The service is mostly reliable, prompt and friendly.
The food is quite good with a varied menu, and I am mostly pleased with portions, freshness, and flavours, and I look forward to trying more dishes on the menu. The prices aren't cheap but you get what you pay for, with a lunch menu available during the day as well as regular specials.
Their draft beers have always been cold, fresh and tasty, and that's great, as I often order craft premium beers. Smaller selection, but a good mix of choices.
They have live music Fridays & Saturdays on the back patio, or inside. It's mostly acoustic, or rock, and it's fun and enjoyable.
Wednesdays are trivia nights from 8-10pm. Join or create a team, and enjoy some challenging questions, and a name-that-song section. It's fun!

Read moreOur group comes in once a month, and in the past, my husband and I would eat there about once or twice a month (we live 25 minutes away). On Thursday, the 9th of November, our group of 7 arrived by 5:20, and the restaurant was starting to fill. The table next to us (a group of 6) order and we placed our order by 5:50. The next table had completed their meals and had their leftovers in a box, and we were still waiting. We asked at 6:20 for an update, our server went into the kitchen, then came back 5 minutes later to report that there was a problem with the oven and it would be another 5 to 10 minutes . We had to cancel my husband’s meal as he is a diabetic, he had a meeting in Galt for 7:00, so left and went to Tim Horton’s. My question is: why was our server not told about the issue with the oven so that we could have been made aware and able to make a decision about our meals well in advance of creating the situation? We know the quality of the food is fair and eatable and, in the past, so has been the service, but this was exceptional, and we all remember the exceptional. This caused my husband to make the decision to never return and to pass on his experience to others. You have lost the 2 of us as customers, we do not speak for the rest of the group on that decision, but we were all disappointed in...
Read moreThe owner/manager told me I had to be mental when they constantly leave whole bay leaves in half of the menus sauces. Constantly told said manager that you have to remove them. Caught the same manager smoking indoors and he is extremely rude. Don't ever complain because you won't be let back and get blocked by servers at the door yelling at you to leave. The head office kitchen menu writer is stupid and that's why nobody in there knows that bay leaves come out before you serve the dish. Watch out... I would never go back - during covid they were turning people away and recommending they go to the worst bar in cambridge. It's too bad I was a regular customer at the time. Also found elastic bands, hair, produce stickers and of course bay leaves in the food. Be very careful eating there. Check out waterloo regions health inspections for this place. It's listed as Fiddle & Firkin and you'll see for yourselves that nothing in the kitchen has been corrected when inspected. Please.. im telling you to not ever go there. Enjoy your flat beer if you...
