Our first time trying Chuck’s out last Saturday will be our last. Family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children 9&10).
Our server was absolutely fantastic, and we are very grateful for him (younger man with dark hair). I wish I could remember his name, he deserves to be recognized!
We called ahead to reserve a table a few nights before as it was the Saturday of March Break, and everything was packed (there was also a Leaf’s game on that night so we wanted to make sure we could get a table). Upon arrival, I told the hostess that we had a 6pm reservation for 4, gave the name for the reservation, and she looked at me sideways and said something along the lines of they don’t take reservations and how many people did I want a table for? Okay, no biggie, told her the four of us would like a table. She grabbed four main menus and lead us to our table without another word, which I thought was odd because we had two children with us and I assumed we’d be asked if we wanted kids menus as well? I’m not one to cause a rift, so we went along and sat down.
Our server was at our table instantly. He was funny, polite, friendly and we were very lucky to have him! We ordered nachos as our app to start. Drinks were brought out super quick and the nachos followed soon after. Everything was delicious and wonderful.
Our main course took about 25 minutes, no worries from our end as we ordered steak/lobster tail/filet mignon/ribs/wings.
When the food was delivered, I was shocked to see the portion size of the lobster tail was extremely small. My husband and I ordered the steak/filet. My steak was to be rare, his filet medium well. My steak was medium-rare (no blood), and his was medium-rare. Decent portions, good quality meat none the less. Both lobster tails were colder than room temp and small/chewy. I upgraded to the loaded baked potato, the skin was so hard/leathered that I couldn’t eat it, and the flesh inside was dry while also being undercooked somehow. The cheese wasn’t melted at all. The corn was beyond burnt, and it looked like a 1/4 of a cob instead of a half cob.
One kiddo got the ribs and wings (which they liked - even though the centre meat was so dry that it left a chalky after taste), wings were good, fries were good. Our other kiddo got the Chucks fingers and fries and it was all delicious.
We ordered one of every dessert (carrot cake/caramel pudding dessert/ice cream dessert {I can’t remember the exact names}), and all of them were delicious with great portion sizes.
Our bill, before tip, was $170. What upsets me the most, is that we could have gone to The Keg, paid less or around the same price, and receive larger portions that were the proper temperature.
I would give the experience one star if it wasn’t for our server.
I’d recommend ordering drinks...
Read moreMy friends and I, a group of seven people, visited your restaurant to celebrate the completion of our second semester. We are regular customers to your restaurant and we never faced any situation like this before in your restaurant, if you want we can share the bills of previous visits. As immigrants, we understand the challenges of adapting to life in Canada, and we always strive to treat others with kindness and respect. Unfortunately, our experience at your restaurant was far from pleasant due to the behavior of one of your waitstaff and her name Alessia
While placing our order around 10:10 PM, we politely requested two 54 oz beers to share among the five of us who wished to drink. However, the waitress responded in a dismissive and rude manner, refusing our request unprofessionally. She said she can offer only one. Her tone and attitude made us feel unwelcome, and we were taken aback by her outright refusal without any courteous explanation.
To provide context, my friends and I have dined at various restaurants, including high-end establishments, and we have never felt the need to leave a negative review until now. We were nothing but respectful throughout our visit, yet her behavior significantly impacted what was supposed to be a memorable celebration. At one point, she even told us, “Don’t come back to this restaurant again,” which was both unprofessional and disheartening.
I want to clarify that this feedback is not intended to criticize your restaurant’s management or ownership, as we understand you may not be aware of such incidents. However, as someone who values fairness and good service, I felt compelled to bring this to your attention. The attitude of staff members directly affects your restaurant’s reputation and customer loyalty. If needed, you may verify our conduct through CCTV footage, as we remained courteous at all times.
We sincerely hope you will review this matter internally to ensure such incidents do not recur with other patrons. We would hate for others to have a similar experience, as it reflects poorly on your otherwise well-regarded establishment.
While we will not be returning to this location, we hope our feedback helps improve the overall customer experience for future guests. Thank you for your time and...
Read moreWon't be dining here again. After a long wait on the patio (which wasn't busy) and seeing other tables be seated, orders taken, served and then leaving BEFORE our order was even brought out or the server even returned to our table - I had to go inside and ask for our order to be checked on. Miraculously the food was brought out immediately. I was disappointed to find my steak, potatoes and corn all cold, it seemed like it had sat for awhile. I addressed this with the server who admitted to me our order was put in late, and that it did sit but I appreciated she took ownership of that and offered to have it remade so I could take it to go as my table mates had finished eating. After another 10-15 mins thinking my food was being made, the manager who I've personally seen several times drinking while working (as a Crabby Joe's and a chuck's) RUDELY brought my same plate back out to me stating its a perfectly cooked steak and he "can't make it any pinker". That wasn't even the issue, my food was cold and not satisfactory. If I wanted to "just heat it up" I'd have taken it home myself and done so but seeing as I was paying for it and its gross to serve food that has sat under a heat lamp for some time (which by how cold my food was obviously isn't working). He also had a mask that didn't fit properly that he took down to speak to me and then leaned in right at my face - I am pregnant and the whole point of a mask is that it fits you and completely covers your nose and mouth. I work in the medical field and have to wear one all day - the protocol of mask isn't followed properly here. After feeling offended and spoken to so rudely we asked for the bill so we could just leave - which also took forever. The manager has zero people skills and should not be addressing tables if that's how he is going to speak to them - and if my server could admit those things to me but clearly not the manager there are some serious issues...
