This is All About----SHIVAM---- he is on night shift . I am writing this review to express my deep disappointment with the behaviour of one particular employee at this restaurant. It is truly unfortunate that in a country like Canada, where diversity and inclusion are core values, we still experience unfair treatment based on region or background. As a proud Punjabi, I walked into this restaurant expecting to be treated equally like any other customer, but what I witnessed was a clear example of regional bias. This employee constantly gives preference to customers from his own province, while those of us who are Punjabi are spoken to rudely, ignored, and treated with visible disinterest. It’s disheartening to see such behavior, especially when we are paying the same money as everyone else. We are not coming here to ask for anything free, we are not creating problems, we are simply paying customers who deserve respect and basic courtesy. I have personally seen how this employee will smile, speak politely, and serve others quickly—but when it’s our turn, everything changes. His tone becomes harsh, his body language negative, and he makes us wait longer than necessary, even when the restaurant is not busy. I am not the only one who has experienced this—many of my Punjabi friends have also faced similar treatment from the same individual. It has reached a point where we feel hesitant to visit again, despite liking the food. This is not how customer service should work. Everyone should be treated with the same level of respect, regardless of where they come from. No business can afford to lose customers due to the personal biases of its staff. What’s worse is that we are paying customers—we give full money, we don’t bargain or demand special favors. We simply expect to be treated fairly. The employee’s actions are not only unprofessional but also damaging to the image of the entire restaurant. In such a multicultural environment, it’s shocking and painful to feel unwelcome in a place where you’re spending your hard-earned money. We Punjabis are known for our hospitality, respect, and large hearts, and we expect the same in return. We do not deserve to be made to feel less than others because of where we come from. I urge the management to take this issue seriously and look into the conduct of their staff. They need to train their team to treat every customer equally, regardless of regional or cultural differences. This is not about ego—it’s about basic human dignity. When we enter a restaurant, we come with positivity, ready to enjoy our meal. But such experiences leave a sour taste that no food can fix. I’m sharing this not out of anger, but out of a need for change. We will continue to speak up until we receive the respect every customer deserves. Businesses that welcome all will always succeed, but those that promote bias and division will lose loyal customers over time. I hope this feedback is taken as a serious opportunity to improve. We want to feel safe, welcomed, and respected—nothing more, nothing less. Please fix this before...
Read moreThis is an ice-cream only review. I have not tried the rest of the menu, nor am I interested. The most basic product of a desert café, which is a scoop of ice cream, is poorly rendered by this establishment and thus has left me uninspired to further venture down the menu.
Summary: I miss Baskin Robins. Sure, they were expensive in comparison but at least I always got quality product, no matter the flavor. I am a firm believer in quality over quantity. Unfortunately, since the ownership change a few months ago, this is no longer the case. As soon as we saw the change over, I feared the worst, but remained optimistic in hopes that it would be a change for the better.
Experience: I have been to the location many times as there is no other desert place close by. In one visit, my friend and I were given 5 broken spoons that we had to change out in 3 return trips to the counter. In another visit, we asked for 2 scoops of ice cream and were told we have to wait 30 minutes as there were other orders - while there were two employees standing around doing nothing. Waiting 30 minutes for ice cream in a cup - especially when it's all sitting there - seems pretty ridiculous, but we endured. Costs appear to be kept to a minimum while cutting every possible corner, as you will see further in my review.
Product: On more than one occasion, I've gotten freezer frost in my 2 scoops of ice cream. Recently, I noticed one employee scraping the bottom of an almost empty bucket of ice cream and transferring it to the new one, along with the said freezer frost. Freezer temperatures seem to be too low as the ice cream appears to be overly hard when the employees scoop, and is also evident by the excessive frost accumulation around the edges. The flavors are covered so you have to use your imagination on how they look. Blatantly generic, unbranded ice-cream, mediocre flavors, and yes, I've tried a lot of them. Rum raisin is probably the best in my opinion. They seem to have had the same flavors for about 3 months now - after, of course, the BR inventory ran out. BR would change it up every now and then to keep things interesting, but not anymore. Product is served in a soup bowl, likely discounted inventory from Zoup just a few doors down. The container even warns of hot content. Speaking of soup, the spoons used are also soup spoons (big round and deep, for holding fluids) and not desert spoons (long, narrow, small and meant for savoring). Asked for a banana split once, and it was not on the menu, even though they had bananas hanging in the back. Huge turn off.
Perhaps the other menu items are intended to be the 'killer product', intended for a different target audience - however as a simple person who enjoys an ice cream in a cup every now and then, I would go else where whenever possible to get my fix. As to why there are so many 5 star reviews, is beyond my comprehension - however, for me, this establishment does not suffice adequately. I have lost all faith in the rating system.
2 Stars - thanks...
Read moreMe and my wife are from Niagara Falls. We came to Cambridge for a couple days for a mini vacation. Decided we wanted ice cream. While waiting being second in line we overheard the order in front of us. The employee taking the order was polite, compliant and even said they could work around some rules for the family in front of us. It should be noted that the family and the employee taking the order was of South Asian (Indian)/Canadian ethnicity as it will be important in my review. Once their order was finished my wife approached the girl at the front desk and she said “what do you want?”. Seeing past that believing this worker was stressed being the only person working my wife made her order. My wife asked for a sundae (with cookies and cream ice cream) with two toppings. The employee informed her it could not be done. My wife informed her on the Cream and Crumbs website it said she could order any ice cream with the choice of two toppings. The employee told my wife “no you’re wrong” while rolling her eyes at her. My wife then continued to order a sundae on the given menu in store. After the sundae was ordered the employee asked “are you done now? I have other people’s ice cream I have to get to”. While saying this she brought the total up to the debit machine and I informed her I would like something as well. The employee looked at me with her mouth wide open, let out a huge grunting sigh and asked me “what do you want?”. I informed her I would like a cookie dough sundae, the employee told me they “don’t do cookie dough sundaes.” Wanting to avoid what my wife just went through I ordered a small cup of cookie dough ice cream. Asking for our order took up less than 2-3 minutes of the employees time while the family before us spent 10-12 minutes asking for samples and extras for their purchase. It should be noted that myself and my wife are of Caucasian Canadian ethnicity. The family before us received respect, kindness and smiles while we received pushiness, rudeness and what seemed like anger. My wife and I will be coming back to Cambridge because of how much fun we had and when we do we will get our ice cream somewhere else. People go to ice cream parlors to experience fun and a tasty treat, not to be treated like a second class citizen and to be a victim of racial bigotry. I hate to say that but even the next person to walk in was uncomfortable with the way we were treated. I do not insist you come here until staff have received cultural and...
