This Eggs Pollenny is absolutely perfect. The polenta was caramelized perfect during frying. The egg was perfectly medium. The fresh fruit is a nice hearty service, as well as have diversity in the fruit. Even the potatoe & sweet potatoe hash browns are cooked perfectly, soft but fried to be carmalized and crispy. My Quad espresso with steamed cream taste wonderful & I couldnt resist getting a carrot cake to try as well. Hearty, home made and full of nuts with real cream cheese. I appreciate a place that puts so much work into their food and delivery. Not from a box, delicious and I will 100% be back.

This place is rad. It's locally owned and operated, and in my opinion, the quality of the food they serve is some of the best on Vancouver Island. The owner still works in the kitchen pretty much every single day, and made my lunch himself today. The burger was fresh, delicious, perfectly seasoned, cooked just right, and beautifully presented! Among the best I've ever had. Thank you. Highly recommend. Their mochas are also delicious.

I love this spot! Definitely swing by here if you travel! It's so cozy! No music, but the esthetic is so nice! Plus view of the water. The menu has great and reasonable prices, and good selection! The menus also have some delightful chalk art on them. If I wasn't budgeting, I would try everything!

Absolutely terrible experience today at The Java Shack. After reading their post on Facebook about their financial struggles during covid, my family and I decided to try them out instead of one of the corporate businesses in town. We got there and ordered drinks for my husband and I before my mom arrived, and I went back to order our breakfasts when she got there. The cashier, Sarah, was rude and not at all accommodating, made a fuss about poaching eggs hard instead of soft, and told me that I couldn’t have a BLT because they didn’t have bread. I paid $48 for the three meals and we proceeded to wait outside on the patio for our food. Fast forward 45 minutes, only two plates come out, my husband asks if a third is coming and the guy says he’ll be right back with it. The cashier that took our order comes out and tells me that she misunderstood when I ordered, and that she had added extra bacon, avocado and cheese onto my husbands bagel (he is allergic to avocado) instead of making a BLT (bagel) with avocado and cheese as I requested. Instead of apologizing and offering to 1. Fix my husbands meal and 2. Make mine right away, she continued on to argue with me and tell me that even though it was her misunderstanding and her fault, that I would have to come up to the till and pay for the new food and then wait for it to be ready. I was starving at this point and my husbands food wasn’t even right. We left extremely unhappy and will not be going back. Here’s a tip for you- if you’re posting online about your lack of customers and how you need community support, maybe put in your best effort to be accommodating and friendly to the people that are coming in and choosing to spend their money in your establishment. After reading the other reviews and asking around town, it doesn’t sound like I am the first person that’s had this kind of...

Java Shack is one of my favorite restaurants- anywhere - any time! The food is very thoughtfully created and presented. I feel like the chef really thinks about presentation and ingredients. The eggs polenty for breakfast is a work of art and so delicious. It sells out quickly so we call at 8 am and pre-order. Java Shack is NOT a fast food restaurant- we always call, preorder and it is ready when we arrive -20 minutes later. Yes - this a drag but sooo worth it. The line at breakfast is long. There is a salad/bowl called the Mc?? With brown rice, dried apricots, avocado and a miso dressing - so good! Again pre- order. Restaurant is open Monday - Friday - so breakfast and lunch - I think it closes at 4 pm. Closed on the weekends. I try and plan my stop over in Campbell River accordingly! Java Shack is one of those restaurants that takes...

Came for a coffee and breakfast while waiting for the ferry. Says they serve breakfast until 1030. It was 1005 and they wouldn’t serve me breakfast. Said it was closed because they had a gap in orders and they only had lunch. I said ok I’ll get a sandwich from their lunch menu. Apparently that doesn’t start until 1100. They refused to serve us. While I was sitting drinking my coffee, they brought a man who was sitting across from us breakfast. So when they refused our order they were still cooking breakfast for someone who came just a few min ahead of us. This isn’t the first time this has happened to me here. Not sure how you can run a...
