The service and the food were outstanding. I wanted to go tell the cook and servers how wonderful everything was, but they were super busy and keeping their cool despite the constant flow of patrons coming down the dock. This began our quest for the best fish and chips in Campbell River, and I'm afraid we will be jaded now. They serve salmon and snapper for the fish and chips. No halibut, but lots of people prefer snapper or ling cod over halibut. The batter was light and crispy, and the fish was cooked to perfection. The fries are handcut with peels, and they are delicious. The coleslaw was great. Ask for malt vinegar. They have it. Seating is on a patio in the wharf and had covered tables (umbrellas) to keep the direct sun off during the Summer.

Delicious fish and chips with gluten free options as well! Light and flaky batter and an option to change your chips to onion rings, poutine, etc instead. Both the salmon and the red snapper were fantastic. Definitely worth a try:) Will note to allot more time or order in advance, wait times can be quite long as they are very popular. Went around 6pm; it took over an hour for our food to be ready. The one doughnut they had available when we got there was delicious. They were totally out of gluten free options which was a bit sad. Came back the next day for more doughnuts (both GF and regular) and they were totally out. Hopefully next time there will be more doughnuts for us to try!

Our time today at More on the Shore was good. The food was tasty, I had the Cod Fish and Chips and my partner had the fish tacos, both dishes were good. The fish and chip batter was light and crispy and the fries had some sort of seasoning on them that we couldn't quite figure out, but found it needed a good pinch of salt to get em just right. The tacos were good but we thought that a spicy aioli of sorts would have helped it shine brighter. The service was quick and easy and we got our food in a good timely manner. The floating dock seating area was neat as if we were eating on the sea! All in all, definitely worth the price for the quality you get!

Had absolutely the worst experience eating out EVER. And that's after me and my family went on a side trip up the Island specifically to visit this place. I had such a beautiful memories connected with this restaurant from my trip on the Island last year, and now I'm not coming back there ever again and won't recommend this place to anybody. Nobody brought us menu or water or asked if we were ready to order, had to go ask the staff to attend to us myself. That's after noticeable amount of time has past and after I saw people who came few minutes after us were already served and eating. They missadvertise fried oysters for grilled ones and server tried to persuade me that they are grilled and the amount of batter on oysters is OK, and that fried ones would have much more of that stuff. Oil was dripping out of those oysters and when I order grilled oysters at any other restaurant I get them and that wasn't the case here. Then I overheard server speaking to other table and to them she said that their grilled oysters are actually pan fried. Didn't mentioned that to us for some reason. In the end we received zero apologizes from the restaurant and went back home very frustrated. The rest of the meal we had was good, but good food is not an asset for the restaurant - it's a must. And other places at least try to give good service and value their clients. I didn't feel valued at this place at all. You can do...

We elected to skip the 1:30pm Quadra ferry so that we could check this place out. We were seated around 1:15 and placed drink orders (beers). At 1:30, we still didn't have any beer nor had our food order been taken. One of our party finally went in to inquire and we were able to put our food order in. At 1:45 we still did not have beer and sent someone to move our car/trailer to the 2:30 ferry line. At 2:00 we asked for our food to go (I will mention that at this time, a gentleman who sat down well after us was served HIS fish). We ate our fish and chips in the ferry line and they were some of the best I've had, but my goodness, the service was SLOW. I will also mention that the other couple we were traveling with had this same problem earlier in the month. It just should not take over 30 minutes to fry food and certainly not to open beers and deliver them to a table.

Another issue I had was the pricing- the 2 piece halibut fish and chip MEAL is $18.95. One piece of fish is $9.95. I just wanted two pieces of fish, but it was more economical to order the meal and hold the fries... I would give this a solid 4.5 for food, but my goodness, the service and pricing drag this...

Service - 5 Stars. So very friendly! They take their business personally

Food portions - 3 stars. I bought a family meal (intended for 4) and we found 5 pieces didn't quite make sense and the fries could have been a lot more generous. Also I cannot eat their slaw (allergic to Carrot) and no alternatives available. This is not really a loss of a star or anything, just noting it here.

Food quality - 4 Stars - exactly what I would expect; not a 5 because no Wow's.

Food Prices - 2 Stars. I think Covid shut-down in the spring did affect the pricing this year as it did for many establishments, and the lack of tourists and visitors would have no doubt reduced their revenue; nonetheless, with all this considered I found the prices high for the food portioning and...
