In June 2023, we had the opportunity to stumble upon this restaurant by sheer happenstance. Traveling to the town in which it is located, we were simply looking up restaurants by Review, and saw that this looked interesting. We have had the opportunity to dine in some fine restaurants in the United States, Canada, and Europe. This is right there among them. If you are traveling through Carleton sur Mer and enjoy high-quality, well, prepared and original work by obviously an excellent chef, don’t miss this place. Everything is local and made in house. Your experience will be centered around the food. The wine list is nicely oriented towards what is served on the menu, it is relatively small, and reasonable. The service is great! The front of house is ably staffed by an engaging French woman who knows her craft. As for ambience, the restaurant is located on the front deck of a private home. While clearly not a Michelin star appearing experience, there are numerous little touches that are endearing. What truly caught my eye having lived in France for sometime was the collection of charitable annual calendars from the French Postal Service that adorn the bathroom walls. We shouldn’t have been, our French is terrible but that did not stop Sabine the woman in charge of the dining room from making sure we had the most amazing experience. Sabine actually brought her laptop to our table so we could see the menu in English when the QR code would not work on our phone. Sabine was full of life and is a woman that truly loves her job and we should all be grateful for that. The service was only surpassed by the food, it was sublime. Le service à la salle est impeccable avec une ambiance conviviale. La serveuse/ 2e cheffe(oui oui je vous ai vu aideren cuisine 👌🏼), est très dynamique et très joviale. Pas d'attente entre notre arrivée et nos différents plats. Les plats sont une explosion de saveurs variées, de saisons où chaque ingrédient a sa place et cuit à point. Nous avons eu l'honneur d'être les premiers à déguster le sorbet à la mélisse et c'est juste wouah sans mot. (J'en aurais pris plusieurs autres). La gelée de rose du jardin etait une belle découverte. Un restaurant qui vaut le détour. Nous sommes originaire de France et avons pour habitude de manger de bons repas gastronomique de haute qualité et ce restaurant fait littéralement partie de mes top 3.
