Tosca — Restaurant in Carleton-sur-Mer

Bad place to avoid if you are tourist like me. I ordered food for take out, the service was quick enough to respond, but that's the only thing positive about this restaurant. The staff told me that it's gonna take about 20 minutes, I left my phone number so that they can call me when it's ready, but for 45 minutes there is no phone call. So I thought they probably forgot or neglected my request, I came back to the restaurant in the middle of heavy rain, I was right they forgot to call me, the staff went to the kitchen and gave me the order. But they did not provide any take-out bag; the sauce spilled out when we took it back to our hotel and created a mess. I ordered a veal dish and seafood spaghetti, the veal had a very strong lemon flavor, the spaghetti had almost negligible amount of seafood and a tiny portion as described by other reviewers, they were not tasty but overpriced. Overall, we are very disappointed.

J'ai donc pensé qu'ils avaient probablement oublié ou négligé ma demande, je suis revenu au restaurant au milieu d'une forte pluie, j'avais raison ils ont oublié de m'appeler, le personnel est allé à la cuisine et m'a donné la commande. Mais ils n'ont fourni aucun sac; la sauce s'est échappée lorsque nous l'avons ramenée à notre hôtel et a créé un gâchis. J'ai commandé un plat de veau et des spaghettis aux fruits de mer, le veau avait une très forte saveur de citron, les spaghettis avaient une quantité presque négligeable de fruits de mer et une petite portion similaires aux expériences décrites par les autres, ils n'étaient pas savoureux et ça vaut pas le prix. Dans l'ensemble, nous sommes très déçus.

We didn't "set-up a time" for pick up. The staff told me "it's gonna take about 20 minutes", but there was no precise "appointment time" set up for pick up; also, I told the staff explicitly to call me when it's ready, they did not say no, so it's a very weak excuse from your side. If things usually happen like you mentioned in your response, then the staff should have explain to me that they will usually not call the customer, but it did not happen. Also, it's been 45 minutes after I ordered. If things happen like you mentioned, then you should call me after 20 minutes because at that time I did not show up to take the order, I didn't get any phone call, this fact is contrary to your explanation that you "take the phone numbers in case people don't show to take their order". If the customer is "late", and you don't call them, why would you take their phone number? That's just bad customer service.

As for the bags, you can give take-out bags made of recyclable paper just like other restaurants in the area do, I don't understand what is the problem. Ordered take out, was told that waiting time would be long, so we left our phone number for the waiter to call us once ready. After one hour still no calls, we called and no reply. We went there and found out our food was ready but cold... obviously no one ever remembered to call and no one cared. it was raining outside and we had to rush back to the car, the food was poorly packaged and source leak out. Last time in this place ever.

I believe they removed my first review of this restaurant. My husband and I dined here in mid September, while travelling through the region. Only the ambiance of the restaurant is nice, which fooled us. It is outrageously overpriced; the “meal” itself arrived on bread sized plates. Two small medallions of meat on a plate and a small portion rock hard, overcooked, questionable “rosemary” potatoes, tiny amount of vegetables. The wine was the teeniest glass ever. We left hungry and felt completely ripped off. Wished I had read all the bad reviews previously, you have to scroll down to see them … not sure how this place continues to be in business with years of...
