Crumbs Bakery Café — Restaurant in Castlegar

Crumbs Bakery was once a go to spot for my wife and I and would head to Castlegar from Nelson and make sure to stop at Crumbs. At first everything was fantastic. Definitely a limited menu but that's ok when the food is food. Until it isn't... the last few times we went there for their delicious sandwiches we were cery underwhelmed with the lack of sandwich fillings and basically ate 2 large thick piece of bread with half a slice of salami in between them. Quality seems to have taken a serious downturn a few months ago and now this is a place we certainly won't return to and Definitely won't spend any money at. Used to be great and now not sure what happened but the quality of the food took a serious downturn. That being said, staff always seem somewhat friendly despite the massively high turnover rate. I just moved to Castlegar less than a fortnight before writing this review. Prior to leaving from Toronto I was determined to make sure that there was a local bakery in town that meet my sweet, bread and coffee cravings. I was told that this is the place for all three and I’m happy to report that the holy trifecta is absolutely golden here! The staff were all welcoming right from the get go. Coffee is made immaculately with daily fresh sweets+savories that will titillate the eyes, palate and tummy all at once. Whether you’re driving through or local, this is the place to be. I'm extremely impressed by the people and products this business produces. My wife and I were simply walking by, and out of the blue one of the employees/owners (I would assume) asked us if we would like some of the product they had left over. We said ok and they passed us a paper bag right full with bake goods at no charge! Our family has snacked on all of this since and we can't believe how good everything is!
