Chez Elie — Restaurant in Chambly

I've ordered the shish taouk plate with just one salad. I couldn't pick a second one that interested me. The service was friendly and I got my food within five minutes even though it was a Friday evening. Their dining room is open but without service. So you can sit there and eat but food court style. The portions are generous and it comes with fried potatoes and white rice. Nothing special there. They asked me if I wanted the garlic sauce and the pita bread. Luckily I said yes to the sauce. They give two of them for a reason. The meat is on the dry side. It's got flavour, but I couldn't eat without the sauce. Would I go back? Probably not. There are many good reviews. Maybe I'm just being picky. It did smell very good in the car the whole time. I give 4 stars because of the service. 3 stars...

The shish taouk and shawarma were quite tasty, meat was tender and just salty enough and with the right amount of spice. The garlic sauce is authentic and not like the garlicky mayonnaise which other comparable fares sometimes have. The tabouleh and the chickpeas salad that came with my plate could have been fresher, but we're decent, the beets salad that my mate ordered was quite nice though. All in all, it compares relatively well against it's competition ; the likes of Basha and Amir, especially for the quality of the meat. Le gout est toujours aussi bon, malheureusement, avec le changement recent de proprietaire nous avons remarquer une grande variation dans l'offre et le service.

Nous avions l'habitude d'y aller chaques semaines, nous avions même convenu d'une entente avec le proprietaire pour avoir l'option de prendre une assiette pour enfant (50% moin grande et 50% moin cher). Nous etions ravis de cette offre et le service a la clientele etait hors pair!

Puis, du jours au lendemain, plus d'assiette pour enfant, sous pretexte que "c'est la meme portion que celle pour adulte" je me suis fait repondre "ben la c'est quoi il va avoir 2 patates dans votre assiette?" ...donc dans l'assiette pour adulte il y a 4 patates?!

Nous y sommes tout de même retournés, pour realiser que nos assiettes (riz patate poulet sans salade) etaient maintenant remplies 1/4 de riz, 1/4 patates, l'emplacement de salade etait simplement vaccant....en gros, on a maintenant la portion pour enfant pour le prix des assiettes adultes!

C'est dommage, nous adorions manger chez Elie. Par chance, une chaine concurrente ouvre bientot ses portes au carrefour carignan, 5...
