I have never in my life been so disrespected by a business as this past experience at Stephanies. My wife celebrated her 86th birthday the other day and asked that we go for Lobster. We have tried twice recently at Stephanies but they had run out each time. I made sure they had them this particular day AND made sure that we could get them boiled (or steamed). We arrived just after 4 PM and It was a quiet evening at the restaurant with less that 20 patrons present by the time we left at 6 PM. We made it very clear that the lobster had to be boiled (or steamed) and not grilled in any way. IN ADDITION we simply asked that the lobster not be cracked open as my wife preferred to take it apart herself. After waiting nearly 1 hour to get the lobster it arrived blackened on one side as it had beenleft on a grill for most of the wait time. (I assune the cook didn’t appreciate our simple request or perhaps he/she did not know how to boil water) The waitress did her best to resolve our disappointment but my wife had waited for 3 years (no dining during covid) and she just wanted to eat her meal. I thank the waitress for her patience and attempts to resolve any issues. Having eaten good dishes from Stephanies for over 20 years, this experience has left me with an extremely foul taste and angry as hell. As customers they couldn’t care less knowing full well in our physical condition due to age and failing health – we won’t be around much longer. I have provided picture of blackened lobster received as well as the last lobster meal from 4 years ago

We stopped here on our way home and at first we were pleasantly surprised; nice looking restaurant and wonderful service... *keep in mind the service from Louise was wonderful throughout the whole experience* The entrée of fried calamari and tempura shrimps took about 30-45 minutes (but the oil had been replaced and wasn't hot when we ordered, ok) and the tempura shrimps were more greasy batter than anything else. Then our main course took around the same time to receive so we started eating our main course about 1.5 hours after getting there!!! We ordered the big "expensive" plates because we were craving lobster tails but we received the tiniest "tail" honestly it was a langoustine more than anything else. Such a shame! How can you charge so much for absolute nothing special... Also, we asked for medium and medium-well steak and both were "very-well" done. Not juicy, not tasty, nothing. Disappointed is the word. We won't be going back unless the food is as worthy as Louise's service.

I booked a room for my sister and mom so they could come from Buffalo and Toronto to meet my newborn. While my 70-year-old mom was relaxing in the room late this evening, a stranger with a key let herself in the room, saw my mom and then took off before my mom could out of bed, out on shoes and go after her. When my sister arrived later, she was getting in bed and realized that her bed linens were covered in skin flakes, stains and hairs. This is unacceptable. The front desk is closed and there's no emergency number to call for assistance. No where to get clean linens and no one to address the security issue. I have half a mind to call the police about this security issue. Unacceptable. DO NOT STAY HERE. It looks cute, attached to this nice restaurant, but it is obviously poorly managed. So gross and so unsafe.

Horrid experience!! Brought my Husband here for his Birthday last night. Place was not even 1/3 full. We were told my the manager to pick a seat anywhere. So we picked a table in a nice quiet corner. We were quickly intercepted by our waiter who said we could not sit where we wanted as it was a 4 person table and we could only sit at a 2 person table (in the middle of the restaurant). So we were told where we had to sit. We were very uncomfortable at our table since it was out in the open and we are very quiet, private folk....and the restaurant was empty!!!

We asked the same waiter for some water to start and the glare we received from him was priceless. He looked absolutely repulsed by us.

I asked to order a poutine which was from the take out menu. Waiter said okay. My Husband (whose Birthday we were there celebrating) asked for a poutine as well (except the Philly cheese steak version) and waiter said no, that's for take out only. I asked why I was allowed to order a poutine from the take out menu and not my Husband, response I got (in a very rude tone) was "I SAID THAT IS FOR TAKE OUT ONLY". It was a poutine, same thing I ordered!!! My Husband who did not want his Birthday dinner ruined quickly picked something random from the menu, which he did not want just to keep the peace. Food came out, was dropped on the table and waiter disappeared after that point. Did not acknowledge us at all. Did not ask if everything was okay or if we needed anything, just ignored us. Our glasses sat empty for about 15-20 minutes. I had to flag our waiter down to ask to order an extra. I said thank you (with no response). He just dropped and left. He had ZERO interest.

We were not asked if we wanted coffees or teas. We were not asked if we would like dessert. Of course I jumped in and said I would like a piece of cake for my husband's Birthday. I very quietly sang Happy Birthday to my Husband on my own as I felt like an inconvenience asking our waiter for anything.

When it came time to paying our bill, "said waiter" had an appalled face when we left zero tip (which we had NEVER done before - but we also never had such a horrible experience either).

On our way out, we quietly pulled the manager aside and asked him why my husband could not have the dish he wanted, even though it was the same thing I ordered. The manager said we should have been able to have anything we wanted.

That being said, food was very tasty....but again, not what my Husband wanted. I shared my poutine with him since he was not allowed to have one. Rest of the staff seemed super polite to their customers. We somehow ended up with the one gem in there.

Service is absolutely everything. Even more important than the meal itself (in our opinion).

We have never been so disappointed in an...

Went to Stephanie’s last night with a group of 12 people for a birthday party. Our orders were a mess from start to finish. Sides were wrong, courses came out in the wrong order and in general service was a mess. My wife ordered the chateaubriand, it came out on a plate that looked suspiciously like a surf and turf setup. Minus the surf! When we inquired as to why it came with roast potatoes and rice instead of mashed we were told it was a kitchen screw up. Am also quite sure it was a 3.5 oz instead of 7 oz. Our server was good she returned it to the kitchen to have it made properly. When it returned 25 minutes later the whole table was finished eating and the meal was not even plated correctly! Sauce was to be on the side, was served over top to hide the fact that they cut the meat in half! Plate was also served without mushrooms. When my wife asked if she would be charged for a meal that was made wrong twice and took over an hour to serve, our waitress said she would comp it. After eating a small amount, we asked for a box as everyone was finished and ready to leave. Our server came back to the table and informed us that the manager told her she could only comp it if she didn’t allow us to take it home. We asked to speak to the manager and he came to the table with what I can only describe as arrogance. When I asked about this decision, I was informed that all restaurants observed this practice. He was very combative and refused to have a civil conversation regarding my wife not wanting to pay for a meal she was unable to enjoy with our party. Having worked close to 20 years in the restaurant industry I explained that I have never seen anything like this. I also inquired about the decision to cut a choice piece of meat in half. To which he said that was the only way to cook such a large piece of meat to medium well. There were 2 other orders at our table. They were cooked medium and medium rare. YES! Both were cut in half as well. If you are going to spend close to $100 a plate on a meal. May I suggest you cross the river to the Chateau Montebello or drive just down the street to Le Vieux Chateau. Both restaurants would be happy to have...

I was there at 1:20 and me and my daughter had breakfast. We started with each a cup of coffee. There was a long hair in my daughter s coffee,, and my cup still had the trace of lips sticks on it. The waitress saw the hair when I pointed it,, she took the 2 cups and I saw her wash my cup at the bar section. Out of 12 utensils, 4 forks still has egg yolk glued on them and 3 knives we could see the line of filthy water on them. GET A DISHWASHER!! MY HOME DISHWASHER GETS THE DISHES CLEANER!!! On the table, there were service plates covered with dark pebbles,,, there were some also on the paper table cloth,, not sure what that was,, but the waitress also saw it and was question it. I was wondering what happened to that restaurant. I was there several times before,,,, never for a breakfast and never had that kind of experience. Then our plates arrived. The food was good, although I was suppose to have potatoes included and there was one piece of potato hiding under the lettuce. I seriously thought it came from my daughter s plate. I was told by the waitress that there is a switch of cook from morning to afternoon,,, so the cook might have overlooked that plate and forgot the potatoes!!! And usually, we are offered more coffee during the meal,, well we were offered more coffee when our meal was done!!! and I had to get sugar from another table because ours was empty,, I also had to ask for more milk and NAPKINS! We had to ask for napkins,,, pityfull. Sorry I will wait many many months before giving you the benefit of the doubt that this was just a bad day for you guys! You are lucky I was not there to do a health inspection! You would have lost...
