Revised review: The cafe, locally run, boasts a pleasant atmosphere, prompting us to give it a try based on the positive reviews. My experience: The coffee tasted old and lukewarm. It took us 40 min or so to get the soup of the day, which happen to be cold as well. I had to check and ask, "Doesn't the soup come with bread?" The server's response was, "we're out of bread," with no apology or offer for a substitute. The owner reached out mentioning that they were understaffed and it was an unusually busy day. We had a very bad experience yesterday st chesters. The salad bowl had beets that were hard as rocks and the chicken was so tough I could not eat it. The only saving grace was the croissant and this was .not made in house. I told the waitress we were not pleased with the food and would not be back and would not recommend the cafe to.anyone. I cooked the beets today so I could eat them but put the chicken on the compost. What a disappointment. The Chinese food was surprisingly good. Fresh vegetables, good portion and tasty. As far as atmosphere, it depends what you like, definitely not "Chinese restaurant " You order at the counter, then the food Is brought to your table. The staff was fine, but exactly "sit down dining " .. my second visit, I will likely be back again. But, it is still daunting trying to get used to $45.00 for lunch for two with just water to drink.
