Very disappointed with our first visit to White Elephant Thai Cusine. We won't be back. 1. Checked ut the menu in front and saw 2 dead bugs on clear menu holder. 2. The table was dirty and asked the waitress if she could clean it and she did as we were the only 2 people in the restaurant. 3. Cold water jug was brought. 4. Ordered, whole fish with garlic sauce, coconut rice, Thai fresh rolls and ginger stir-fry with beef. 4a. The fish was over cooked and the garlic sauce was very salty, thick and very sweet. 4b. The coconut rice was OK. 4c. The Thai fresh rolls tasted very average because of lack of flavor and the peanut sauce very thick. 4d. The ginger stir-fry with beef was the biggest disappointment of all. Like the fish it was over laden with excessive carrots. The ginger was not fresh and the flavor was bland. The carrots and vegetables were not crisp. It was like the WOK was not hot enough and more steamed the vegetables. The beef had a bland lifeless taste. 5. Once the food was placed on the table and we consumed the subpar food the waitress never came back to see how we were and how the food was. Since it was stated as authentic Thai cuisine we were expecting the experience much better in service and certainly better in Thai food experience. Would we come back or recommend The White Elephant Thai Cuisine restaurant, the answer...
Read moreWe went here for my birthday lunch with my mom, sisters and babies. It was supposed to be a special ladies lunch, however we felt our experience was lacklustre and disappointing. We were the only table at first, and although we were seated quickly and given water, the server then disappeared and never came back. We waited for quite a while, and when no one returned I got up and asked the fellow working in the kitchen what was going on. He went back and got the server, and she began taking our order. Only then did she tell us there was a lunch menu, and proceed to give it to us. We finally placed our order, and although it took a while, the food was mostly good, except for the Pad Thai that tasted like it was covered in ketchup, and not like real Pad Thai at all. No one came back to check on us, asked us how our food was, or even came to bring us the check when we were finished eating. Finally I got up and asked the server who was putting pop into a fridge in the corner if we could pay, because our children had had enough. We paid and left. I doubt I would eat here again, but if I did, I would certainly not waste my time eating in the restaurant, but get the...
Read moreGrowing up in Bangkok, Thailand, it was mandatory for me to try the food at White Elephant in Chestermere. It showed up on my Google Maps as I was driving past it.
I have to say, the environment is very welcoming. The layout is open and gives you the Thai vibes for sure.
I ordered Stir-fried prawns with holy Basil (กะเพรากุ้ง) - EPIC! 🤗
Although it wasn't made exactly like the way it's made in Thailand, due to ingredient limitations, I completely understand and would still HIGHLY recommend trying it. You won't regret it!
I will Definitely be back again next time to try even more items with my family.
The best part is that it's located right across Lake Chestermere, so you get those beach ⛱️ vibes as well as you eat the spicy Thai food.
The lovely woman that cooked my food was very kind and even made me the spicy Thai fish sauce...
