My wife and I visit the Browns Sociahouse restaurant in Chestermere every four months or so. In the past our meals and service have been excellent, but not on our visit on 19 Apr 2018.
Our server was very friendly, professional and thorough, she was the only positive part of our visit. We ordered Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings for an appetizer, they were properly cooked and well plated but they were far too salty and were also spiced with rosemary, an unexpected and unwanted spice, I ordered salt and pepper wings and expected salt and pepper wings. Nothing more nothing less.
My wife and I then split an entree, we ordered the large size Fettuccine Carbonara with Alfredo sauce, bacon, sweet peas, blackened chicken and garlic toast. This entree has also been excellent in the past, but not this night. The entree included approximately 1/2 of a chicken breast, split between the two of us and the pasta barely had any Alfredo sauce on it. There was NO Alfredo sauce in our bowls and the pasta was barely coated. If I wanted pasta without sauce, that is what I would have ordered. I brought this issue to the attention of our server, she apologized and stated there were other issues with the pasta dishes coming out of the kitchen and she would have to speak to the chefs.
Last but not least, our favourite dessert, the Oreo Jar. Again this dessert is normally excellent, but this time the bottom of the jar was barely covered with oreo crumbs, which normally take up about a 1/4 inch or more. Overall the dessert lacked a variety of textures because of the lack of oreo crumbs.
We were quite disappointed on this visit, but given the track record of past visits, we will give this location one more try to determine if our experience was a "one off" or a sign of decline for...
Read moreThis was my review from a year ago Came in yesterday for a fun family dinner. First of all there’s a gross smell as you walk in. Ever in the whole restaurant. Second our server clearly would rather be somewhere else instead of working. Third, our food was cold and not even good. I asked mine with extra sauce and instead they put way less than usual? Fries were a little uncooked too. Don’t think I will be coming back to this specific browns
This is my review from today: My server Diana. So rude. My food trash. Asked for a traditional burger which has bacon. Got the food and asked the server does the traditional burger come with bacon? She said no and said I could get you some. Me however worked at browns before and I KNOW it comes with bacon. Told the server she said not much I can do for you. Told her to then charge me a Hollywood burger because that’s basically what they made AND NO SAUCE???? Second also got a veggie burger with extra sweet soy glaze and extra pickles on the burger and the side. Guess what? No pickles on the burger or sauce on the burger. Used my extra sides to put in the burger. Then told the server everything and she was so rude and was like okay what do u want me to do because there’s nothing I can do. You can 1. Talk nicely and tell the kitchen that they made something wrong, and two learn what goes in what burger Like I’m so disappointed. Ofc I didn’t give a tip. But honestly I’m still hungry because we didn’t even want to finish the food because everything was TRASH. I literally came here with my husband who said let’s give this browns another chance because it’s super close to our house. Not worth the...
Read moreMediocre taste & portions. Our first visit. Definitely not worth a second try. Great interior design, waitresses friendly. First impression was great! Was understaffed when we visited which could be overlooked if the food was great. Sadly it wasn't. We're pretty causal and not hard to please at restaurants but...blackened cajun steak was neither, was redone for us but the sides weren't and came back cold. Steak Cajun spicing was meh but cooked to proper doneness. Smoked scalloped potatoes were actually delicious but cold. Charred broccoli were......well... burnt and that's it. Plain, burnt, well below anything tasty. And cold. The garlic butter was missing and then brought out as a cold hard little ball which was unusuable. The plating was terrible, just plopped on old generic scratched up plates that were way too big making the small cold portions look even sadder. Natchos were ok for taste but the add ons were so tiny I had to hunt to find them not to mention the corn, beans and oh hey, here's some tiny blobs of sour cream, a tiny cup of salsa (barbie size literally). Oh found the cheese. In a little melted ball under the dry scattering of chips. Our happy hour parm fries and the fried chicken and pickles were also meh, not much flavor and tiny portions. Not worth the happy hour price so that says a lot. We decided not to order dessert to prevent further disappointment 😜 this restaurant looks like a Cactus Club wannabe but falls way short on value, flavour and staffing. Ps. Our waitress was great, she deserves a medal. Or a better job. Gave an extra star because of her. Skip this place and try Main Street in Aridrie so...
