A woman from Thorsby recommended this restaurant. Wish we had read the reviews first. The restaurant is dark and depressing and the poor lighting makes it difficult to read the menu. We were seated at a booth where one of the benches had rips in it making it uncomfortable to sit on. In addition, this booth was situated next to the men’s bathroom where the aroma of urinal pucks wafted through the air during the whole meal. The restaurant wasn’t crowded, so I don’t know why we were seated there. We ordered the dill pickle soup which was extremely spicy. We don’t mind spicy food but wouldn’t recommend any one ordering that if spicy doesn’t appeal to you. Of the many dill pickle soups that we’ve ordered in restaurants, this was our least favourite. I ordered the meat loaf meal. The meat loaf was too salty and the texture was very dense. The baked potato was dry. The vegetables were bland. My wife ordered the salmon which was a complete disaster. The fish was over cooked and the sauce was unpleasant and not a good accompaniment to the dish. There were pieces of skin left on the underside of the salmon. We were told by the server that this adds flavour but the fish tasted weird and not fresh. The rice was mushy and seemed to have excess water in it. The server offered to replace the salmon but my wife didn’t want to be wasting food so she declined. The server took 10% off the salmon meal which didn’t amount to much. She did give us a complimentary dessert which were deep fried mini pancakes. The first pancake tasted good but after that it became apparent that the pancakes were saturated in oil. After getting home my wife got very sick from her meal and spent a considerable amount of time in the bathroom. The night before we had dinner at our daughters place. She is a nurse and not professionally trained in cooking. We had ribs, corn-on-the-cob, baked potatoes and salad. To be honest, this meal was far superior to the one we had at Audrey’s. The server had assured us that it was an executive chef who was preparing the food but we find that hard to believe. We eat out a lot and this was one of the worst meals that we ever had. We would have been better off going to a fast food restaurant. The only positive part of this experience was the friendliness and efficiency of our server. However, she might want to consider a change of footwear because her “flip flop” type shoes were smacking loudly on the bottoms of her feet which was annoying to listen to. In addition, wearing this type of footwear as a waitress could be a violation of workplace health and safety regulations. We definitely would never go back to this restaurant and we definitely wouldn’t recommend it to...
Read moreMy experience: Arrived at 7:45 PM on a Saturday. The worst food I have had since I can remember. Also we were seated in a booth right beside the bathroom with a nearly empty restaurant and were treated to the aroma reminiscent of urinal pucks throughout our dinner. Why not ANY other table. Ordered two mains and two kids dishes. The 5 oz. steak was slightly warm and smelled a little like fish for the first few bites. The side veggies included with the 5 oz. were super bland. Anyone with roughly a few months of cooking at home could be hired as a cook (no way that was a chef). Thankfully the Cavendish fries kept me interested. My wife ordered the chicken parmesen, the only item on any of the dishes worth the dollars spent. Everything else was bland and seemed like it was warmed up. The kids pizza had to be a microwave pizza and everything else not mentioned tasted like it was from the frozen section from your neighborhood grocery store. The server was professional and friendly and offered complimentary desert as I had to say to the server when we were asked about our meals, I replied"It's Okay". Once again, the deserts weren't anything you couldn't grab from the local grocers freezer. Including the frozen berries that came with the old cheesecake.
If this is what everyone else experienced, it's awesome they have managed stay open for more than a year. Not sure what is up at this place. You get what you pay for I guess, except the mains.
If your hoping to go there for a great meal, maybe dont.
Stay home and cook something....
Read moreThe reviews for this place were all over the place. It seems like people either love it or hate it, so we figured that we would try it out ourselves. We absolutely loved the service. Austin was such a great server. Very attentive and quick with refilling or drinks. His demeanor was extremely friendly with some humour which was a fantastic combination.
The atmosphere was also great.
The baby changing stall was not on the wall so i had to resort to using the counter between the sinks. Which in retrospect wasn't that big of a deal after i wiped it down, as it was wet from people washing their hands and grabbing the paper towel as the dispensers were out of order. However it would have been nice to have privacy should someone had come in and needed to wash their hands.
The food unfortunately was not as good as we had hoped it would be. I had fettuccine alfredo. I thought that it had a weird taste to me (and I've had a lot of alfredo in my years). My husband said it tasted like it came out of a bag. My husband had a bacon cheese burger. Although it came loaded with cheese, bacon, lettuce and tomatoe, the burger itself was a frozen burger. For $18 one would expect a fresh patti, not frozen. Fries and gravy were really good though. My husband said he is willing to give them one more try... Me i don't...
