Wow! 🤩
European-esque atmosphere (perfect for a romantic date in the dining room - more casual in the lounge if you’re aiming for a good draft watching the game), AMAZING FOOD! (My compliments to the kitchen staff! Like, Holy cheese Batman! They don’t skimp!), really tasty and affordable sharing plates, home style patties on their burgers, their fries are seasoned to friggin’ perfection 🤌 …I’ve been a long-time regular there and I’ve never ordered something that didn’t rock my world. And a little goes a long way - the tomato basil soup is so warming and yummy…perfect for saving room for CHEESECAKE 🤩 Best served with extra sauce on the side…taken to go…to eat together later on while watching Starwars in bed if you find yourself too tired for other (**ahem) “after-date activities” 🤭 Ya - I’m talking to you, other married people in their 30’s+ LOL
Anywho, Phil the manager is incredible! Eager to please and full-Phil (dorky pun intended) any reasonable request to make your visit more enjoyable. Maya, the perky and adorable little hostess, always lifts our hangry moods 🥴🙄😡 with her welcoming and sweet smile - such a ray of sunshine she is! 😊 Our most recent waitress, Ellie is a total baddie - smart as a whip and sharp as a tac, remembering our orders like nobody’s business…even with my super-particular modifications and special requests keeping her on her aching toes as she runs around serving EVERYONE in her assigned zone, with a positive yet-genuine mindset and a can-do attitude, she got everything so perfectly…and given how full the place was the Friday night we came in during peak hours, I would totally understand if a few details slipped her mind for our complicated orders, but she kept on top of it all beautifully. I was thoroughly impressed with her grace and astute management of her job duties. Actually: To our surprise, the beautiful Ellie, was the main event this evening for us, trumping even the insanely decadent gourmet cheesecake that brought us in initially. Which is…bitchen, for lack of a better descriptor here. Truly unique, and just…epic! Well done BAKERS!!! You bring joy to my tastebuds and inspiration to my own kitchen creations. Actually, while I’m reviewing staff here - every single staff member was just rockin’ their zone. The customer service chick working the take-out post behind the bakery display was so kind to me as I ogled the desserts as we waited a few moments for a table to open up for us through the dinner rush - interacting with me like a friend, and answering my many questions about the fall menu. I wish I got her name…she was cool 😎 .
I don’t normally go into so much detail in my reviews, but after several years of living across the hwy from The Cheesecake Cafe and thoroughly enjoying the many MANY date nights my husband has treated me to at this gem of a restaurant, I felt I absolutely owed it to them to take my time to give an honest and heartfelt review of what this little business has brought to our life and marriage. It has been the setting for our hard days, when we decide to tap out from our worries for a bit, and soothe ourselves with something indulgent. For our anniversaries and family visits, celebrating promotions, and eating our feelings after losing loved ones. They’ve made cakes for our birthday parties at home, and even been at our thanksgiving feasts around our dinner table with their pumpkin pie cheesecake 🤤 So worth the price BTW- years later our guests still talk about it!!! Whether it’s your first visit just stopping off while taking the hwy 16A route home from a ski trip, or your gazillionth time dining in, or taking out like us - they treat you like family there. Eventually, you feel like they deserve a seat at your own table.
Thank you for all the special experiences and hospitality Cheasecake Cafe! You guys are just killin’ it in the restaurant business and I am so grateful for what you provide for us.
All our love,
Frank & Patricia
P.S. See you soon for some marvellous mushroom caps and beers at the bar! Cheers! 🍻...
Read moreIt was our first time coming here and I felt compelled to share my experience because I was incredibly taken aback by it. Out of all my travels across North America, this is one of them that sticks out and I wish it were for a positive reason, but it's not. This place is a bistro/bar but also has a bakery section where you can just walk in and buy their baked goods. We were passing through Spruce Grove and I wanted to treat my mom to some cheesecake. When we walked in we headed to the bakery section and a lady came over to tell us she'd be right back to ring us in. She never came back. Finally a guy shows up but decides to completely ignore us and help someone else who came in after us. Once he finally gets to us, he couldn't even crack a smile or say "hello". He asked what we wanted, packaged up our stuff while chatting and joking with another customer. He silently rang us in, said the price, we paid, he didn't ask if I wanted the receipt so I asked for the receipt, he provided the debit transacfion receipt but not the actual receipt, so I had to ask again. It felt really uncomfortable like pulling teeth and like it was a hassle for me to ask for a receipt. Keep in mind we spent $50 on a few slices of cheesecake FFS, I take the receipt and say "thank you, have a great day!" He said nothing back. No smile, no eye contact, not a thing. We leave and head to the vehicle, I noticed he didn't listen to what we asked for because an item was missing, and sadly it was the one we wanted the most. This is a fairly large bar/bistro, it was mid-day, there was only 3-4 tables with customers, it was definitely not busy. I walk in, head to the bakery, the original girl is towards the back of the restaurant standing around, sees me but proceeds to ignore me across the way - she isn't doing much and is not serving her tables so I really don't know what her excuse was, this is the girl who first greeted us/said she would be back and didn't come back. The guy who I was dreading to see was towards the back as well, standing and not doing anything productive - not serving any customers/tables. He saw me standing there but proceeded to stand around and not come over. I stood there waiting to be served for about 7-10 minutes before the guy finally comes back over to the bakery to serve me. He looks at me with a blank face, I tell him that I'm missing one of the items I asked for and let him know which one, he doesn't apologize or anything. He grabs the item, packages it, rings me in again, I pay and he does not say anything. I say "thank you, have a great day" - no response, zilch. Just like the first interaction. My mom was speechless and just as baffled as I was. We did nothing, we weren't rude, we were friendly and polite both times, even when he messed up I remained polite and just asked for the item. I didn't complain about it.
I left feeling disappointed, confused and a little sad over the experience considering we went there in a great mood and excited to try out this place.
I've worked in customer service for a good portion of my life. If I treated someone like that I wouldn't have a job, at least not for long. I truly feel businesses should really take a look at the Ritz Carlton and their customer experience model - I mean there's a reason why people pay thousands of dollars to stay there. Customers are literally the bread and butter of a business, why wouldn't you want to provide a great experience to ensure they return and/or tell their friends? There's true power in how you treat each and every person. It comes down to a choice - are you choosing to treat them good or are you choosing to not care and/or treat them bad? You get back what you put out into the world. Wouldn't you want your business to thrive and grow? Thriving and growing equals more success and futher business opportunity. It's not rocket science, I'm not asking for the world here. I know it's highly unlikely this place will ever strive for better, but jeez loiuse does a smile or warm greeting come out of the...
Read moreWe were looking for a different restaurant we haven’t been to in a while. Decided to come here. It wasn’t extremely busy but a few large groups. No one at the door waiting.
Walked in and the hostess seemed to be in a bad mood when she greeted us. Sat us a table and waited for a while for a server to come. He eventually came and introduced himself and asked if we wanted any drinks. That took a long time. Not sure if he was new or had serveral tables. Very pleasant young man.
Then it went down hill even more. We ordered our appetizer then seemed to order our meal right away. If I wanted fast food I would have gone to McDonald’s.
Received our meal from the rude hostess at the front. Not sure if she was upset she had a table of 12. We were at table 53 and I could see everything. I was done my meal and the hostess came back and took my empty bowl and said your waiter wants to know how long until you’re done to us meanwhile my husband wasn’t done his meal.
Our waiter asked if my husband was done his meal. Then asked if we wanted any dessert which we did.
I asked our waiter if he was in a rush to get us out because the hostess that was severing behind 53 said you wanted us to hurry up.
He said no and proceed to say the back is super busy and then asked if we could pay the bill.
Spent about an hour and half there.
My suggestion if you don’t want to work don’t come in and if you have to clock out give your table to another server to make sure the bill is paid.
Making an experience...
