It is really a shame that the food was great but the service / menu is confusing / lacking.
I reviewed the menu online and called in for the “Butter Chicken Meal & Pop” for $15.99. In the photo you have butter chicken, rice, nann, and a can of pop.
When I arrived they put my order into their computer and (I wasn’t paying 100% attention) handed me the machine. I put in a 15% tip and tapped my card. Realizing right after I tapped they charged me $39.15 (before tip), instead of the $33.57 it should have been (with me also tipping on the higher amount).
We realized they charged me for the pops. After some back and forth - they gave me the $6 cash back.
Take the food home and realize they forgot the nann. Of course, the nann is the kids favourite part so back we go. When I get back they inform me the photo on their website is wrong, nann is not included. And I should have ordered the “Combo” (not the meal) if I wanted nann. The combo being the exact same price (and includes the pop and nann).
They make me nann, the first guy says don’t worry you don’t have to pay, then goes into the back. The cashier insists I pay the $6.30 for the nann. Give them the cash and leave.
Overall - the food was great. Unfortunate to have a bad first impression and won’t be back.
What should have been $38 with a tip...
Read moreMy mother and I tried Tandoori Bites out, a change of pace from our regular eateries. We ordered two servings of butter chicken, one order plain rice, and two orders of naan bread. (One Garlic Naan, one butter naan.) Looks can be deceptive, and when we were served two small dishes of butter chicken and one serving of rice, I was skeptical that it was enough to feed the two of us. My mindset changed once I started eating.
The butter chicken itself is tender and juicy, the sauce is creamy, yet spicy. Not an overpowering spice that you cannot taste anything else, but it is a creeping sense of heat. It gets spicer as you eat it, which is comforting to me. At the end of our meal, we had an almost full butter chicken, half of one and still an huge plate of rice left. My only regret was that because of the creeping heat that the garlic naan no longer tasted like garlic - while the butter naan tasted as it should, buttery.
My experience is limited to trying butter chicken, rice, naan, coconut lassi, gulab jamun so far, I do plan to take down that entire menu over time and give my thoughts. All in all, an excellent, friendly place to eat east indian food. Give this place a shot if you're...
Read moreI was looking forward to having Tandoori bites for some time. Had some extra cash and picked up an order. However, this was very dissapointing. The dal was watery/thin. Maybe it's just me but I like it kind of thick. This was runny. I took a picture, you decide. The butter chicken was rather bland. Very westernized, almost sweet. I was hoping for something better than oodle noodle, but oh well. The roti was really greasy and sticking to the foil. I didn't like it at all. Again, I took a picture so you can decide. The goat was good! My friends said it was really greasy but I liked it. Naan were kinda small. The online pictures remind me of how McDonald's advertises their burger vs their actual burger.
The inside of the store was dimly lit. Walls had that 70s sepia/nicotine colouring. Small tables with hard chairs - it's really not a dime in place. Their buffet-serving-thing was out of service and starting to gather dust.
Overall, I wouldn't come back or recommend it. It was kinda pricy compared to neighboring restaurants, and nowhere near as good. Get the Chinese food next door instead, it's actually...
