Taystee Donair & Pizza — Restaurant in Clareview

From the reviews here... the donairs might be great.... but their pizza isn't! They use cheap quality cheese which causes the pizza crust to become heavy soggy. Also their sauce is too sweet. Their pepperoni isn't typical pepperoni you'd normally see on a quality pizza. They use huge slices( like cheap quality sliced meat for sandwiches you'd find very cheaply priced at a grocery store) scattered around( NO pepperoni flavor at all!!) All the meats they use are like that. They have limited toppings to choose from.. like no Italian sausage etc ...mushrooms are so thinly sliced they dehydrate on the pizza instead of cooking on the pizza. Their bland cheese is of poor quality.. it melts like a blob (but a weird kind of melt so I chalk it up to poor quality cheese) as real cheese should melt with no issues. Unfortunately the cheese they use creates a heavy soggy crust . I do not recommend going here for pizza. Friendly staff ..but it doesn't help with making a...

I used to come here multiple times a month for years, a few months ago i ordered my usual donair and my gfs donair poutine to receive an order that was far far far below how it normally was. I waited for awhile to try it again and did today. Today you guys have lost a loyal customer that loved your food. The order i received today was simply gross, it could barely pass as warm. The donair meat tasted and felt like i needed to be cooked longer, i took 2 bites and threw it in the trash. The poutine was swimming in gravy to the point the fries AND box was soaked while being cold, the gravy also tasted off i still cant put my finger on it. I will definitely not be coming back here which is sad cause this was my favourite donair shop on...

**Editing to say that though we had a few times that were a miss, our feedback was taken into consideration and at our last visit our Donairs were great! Definitely the best I've had in Edmonton. If you're an east coaster craving a donair, this is the place to go. Large portions, and everyone here is always really friendly.

I would give this place 5 stars if it was consistently good. When it's good, it's great! I'm talking saucy, meat grilled to perfection, just the way a donair should be. I go here frequently because they really are that good... but unfortunately I'm finding more and more that it's a miss. I wish everyone there was being trained to make things the same so that they would be made the same great...
