A&W Canada — Restaurant in Cobourg

My experience at the A&W today was probably the worst I’ve ever seen in any establishment. There was no problem with my order, however as my daughter and I awaited our meal another customer was attempting to order a combo and the cashier was so obnoxious/rude and pretty well attacked the lady because she didn’t understand what a combo included. The cashier raised her voice at this lady saying “how am I supposed to know what you want to drink?!” and arguing with this customer to the point where customers were leaving. One man had his hands over his sons ears while he left this restaurant and said that both ladies needed to calm down. Another couple left, and overalll I feel the experience was ruined by this atomosphere. I don’t need to spend money on a lunch out and listen to a cashier yell a customers. She literally followed her around the corner and told her not to talk to the regular customers. Furthermore the staff then spoke about the experience laughing about it after the lady left. This place was dirty and freezing cold, the bathroom was dirty, sink was clogged, very dingy, and the ketchup dispenser was broken. As we waited for our food two other customers there left and commented to us how they didn't enjoy themselves because it was so cold, and their food went cold quickly too. We only stayed because we had already ordered and were in a hurry. A&W is the only fast food chain we go to, but we will never return here. My child's poor teeth were chattering while we ate, and he was wearing his coat. Really terrible experience. I can only assume the owner hasn't been concerned about upkeep, cleanliness or repairs lately. Such a shame as every other A&W location we've been to was a fantastic experience. Food was good (but like other customers said, ours went cold quickly too), and the lady at the counter was nice, that's the only good thing I can say. Ice machine not working for the fountain pop. Poutine came in and was cold, after taking it back to counter and talking to the cashier , she brought the "cook" out who argued with me that the gravy was hot, maybe it was because the curds were cold. Told her that did not matter, the poutine should be warmer then room temperature( and that was being generous in temperature) and since my chicken burger was hot and fresh , I believed the poutine was made too soon and sat to wait for the burgers to be done. She finally offered to make a new one, which was hot and thanked her. Husband used the facilities before leaving and only the urinals were available. Will not be stopping at this A&W again.
