I stopped in here today because I had some business around the corner. I only had time for one pint of beer and the lady at the bar told me there was a special on Kieth's. I looked at the menu and noticed a number of their pints were $7.95, or something around there. So I thought it would be $5.95. When the bill came, I just about had a heart attack to see that the pint had cost $8.98. Even if it were $5.95 plus tax, it would still be cheaper! What the heck is going on?! I asked my server what was happening, quite incredulous, which she noticed right away and sympathized.
Apparently the bar is owned by the hotel, she said, and also stated that the owners were just money hungry and greedy because Covid was a convenient excuse to raise prices. She also agreed that their costs had not gone up at all since before Covid. I told her I had been in there once before, during the height of Covid, while working around the corner, and a domestic pint of beer was still only $5. She told me that many people had emphatically voiced their disapproval with the shocking prices. She even said to the owners, according to her, that customers were very disapproving of the massive price increases. Even the lunches seemed much higher than a year before. The bartender said the owners were just money hungry pigs, basically!
It is strange that these people are not handling the complaints better. I would have thought that after having so many complaints from so many customers, the staff would inform new customers of the massive price hikes since a year ago. But no. They tell people, apparently, that they are getting a $2 discount, but do not inform them that the price is regularly over $11 for domestic pints. This is ludicrous. I am not at the Skydome watching a Blue Jays game, so why such a massive price hike, along with all the food. I noticed it was lunch time and there were very few people inside the restaurant--just two other tables. That should have been a red flag right there!
If I had my way, I would be giving this place minus 50 stars, just for the way they deceive their customers then pummel them with undisclosed...
Read moreOn Sunday June 3rd 3 of us stopped here for dinner. This restaurant is located in the Best Western Plus Hotel. Advertised throughout the Hotel is Sunday “Chef Special” well there wasn’t a chef’s Special and apparently they only do it on some Sunday’s. - False advertising. We ordered an appetizer to share and our meals. The appetizer came 2 of us liked it 1 did not so we thought we’d try another one. We ordered the cauliflower bites. They were horrible. The bites themselves might have been okay but they poured some sour tasting hot sauce on them that made them inedible. Two of us ended up with cankers on our mouths just from tasting them. We ate the rest of our meals ribs which were alright and one of us had a chicken curry dish which was good flavour but rubbery chicken. At the end of our meal we told our server that the cauliflower bites were terrible and we could not eat them therefore they should be taken off of our bill. She politely said we would have to talk to her Manager. We tried talking to Meghan the so called Manager who really couldn’t care less whether we liked our food or not, she blankly stared at us and stated it was not their policy to remove the item from the bill. Not even an offer to replace it with something else. Instead she stood there with her blank stare, and waited for us to pay. Considering how long things have been shut down for you would think “customer service” might be of interest to this restaurant. I know they will not be seeing myself or my 2 friends in there ever again which is too bad because we only just found it 2 weeks prior and it was an easy stop on our way home. I don’t post reviews often but felt the tactless treatment we received at this restaurant deserved to be here for any future...
Read moreI am usually not someone who leaves not so good reviews but felt the need to share our unfortunate experience with Arthur’s pub. So, we thought we’d give it a try after reading some good reviews and just being so close by to us. Sad to say we were severely disappointed. My husband ordered the steak sandwich and I ordered the southern chicken sandwich as well as the English nachos as an appetizer (the salsa tasted just like Tostitos dip). To start, my husband asked for his steak to be medium rare, it came well done and extremely hard to chew, it almost seemed microwaved. We didn’t even mention it to the waitress because we genuinely felt bad to even say anything… so we moved on, gave it the benefit of the doubt. But then I took a bite of my southern chicken sandwich and a few bites in… I had a long piece of hair in it which then understandably so, made me lose my appetite. We let the waitress know right away and she took it back and said they would make me another one which we didn’t want because it wasn’t worth it for us and also again, I lost my appetite. Chicken was also rubbery and didn’t even look real. We don’t know why we even paid (over $88 for two meals, one that should’ve been taken off completely and a couple of drinks) as this is a food quality issue and could be even a huge safety issue too. When it came time to paying, I think the manager came to bring our bill but also didn’t seem phased, just apologized briefly and left. At this point, we just wanted to get out and never look back. Sad that we had to go to Wendy’s afterwards to fulfill what was missing. We hope they take this and learn from it moving forward and hope this review helps...
