Bulk Barn — Restaurant in Cobourg

I'm a frequent flyer to quite a few Bulk Barn locations, mainly Cobourg and Peterborough. Trying to shop Canadian as much as possible, as a business owner myself buying Chocolate has become quite a task. I usually go cross border and buy directly from Stover & Company which supplies Merckens Chocolate to Canada. Foley's is a Canadian company and available at Bulk Barn. I often buy a case mainly from the Peterbrough store but was in Cobourg so went there yesterday (Sunday). I asked to buy a case, which they had in stock, and when I went to pay for it was told that the case purchase discount of 10% (I've always gotten 15% at the Peterbrough store) was only applicable if I ordered the case ahead. The cashier was quite nice and told me she called the owner and that's what the owner told her to tell me. Paying $191 for a 10kg case of Chocolate is quite an increase from the $125 I usually pay for a 50lb case in the USA. Safe to say, I'll be shopping in Peterbrough exclusively going forward as it seems their loyalty to people trying to support local is much more evident in how they treat...

My experiences here have been great in almost every way. The selection is vast, the place is pretty near spotless (when there are no children running amok), the staff have always been helpful and friendly for me. The quality of most everything is fairly high, it was quite rare that I got home and found something that was stale (such as corn ships). Really, my only complaint would be the steep prices. Even on sale, things are still expensive at Bulk Barn. Going forward, I think it's going to be a pretty rare day before I shop at Bulk Barn. Used to be almost a regular haunt of...

Have a 50 percent off coupon that I wanted to use on some high priced nuts that I get regularly. It just so happens that all the higher priced items are conveniently on special of a few cents off. This means you can't use the coupon. I would bet this little game of putting high priced items on special will be over the day after the coupon expired.
