Goodview Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Colwood

I know that it’s NYE and I’m sure it’s a busy night for restaurants, however this was a disappointing experience to say the least.

I called at 4:45 to order food for delivery. I was told that it would be an hour and a half for delivery which was fine. 7pm called to inquire about the food and was told it was on its way.

At 7:40 went to the restaurant to pick it up and they hadn’t even made it... sigh (They did give us a 20% discount)

Food served at 8:30pm and it was mediocre at best. (And that’s being generous) The food was so bland and greasy, the egg rolls were burnt, and we paid extra for a upgrade and never even received it.

Always delicious with reasonable prices and portions, and the best Wonton soup - it’s one of our favourites along with the Wor Wonton soup, Prawns with Black Bean Sauce (no other place I’ve tried can compete with their sauce), House Fried Rice, and Ginger Fried Beef. Have been coming here with my family since I was a kid, long before their relocation to Wale Rd. It’s a family-run business and they are great people - love Gary! He always makes a point in coming out from the kitchen to check in on us when dining in, and noticed I hate sprouts so will always throw in a special little sprout-free chow...

I just ordered from skip and honestly it was terrible. The deep fried garlic pork did not taste good at all. It was soo oily and looked like it had been deep fried in old oil. The chicken chow mien wasn’t any better and for some reason there was 3 pieces of shrimp in it as well that I did not ask for. I had to stop eating it because I’m allergic to shrimp. Also there was little pieces of old black food crumbs in my chicken fried rice. Overall everything tasted really bland. I probably will never order...
