The Rose is the neighbourhood pub that makes you feel like you’ve been coming here for years, even if it’s your first visit. Tucked off the beaten path in Victoria’s West Shore area, it’s a cozy, down-to-earth spot perfect for grabbing a drink, a bite to eat, and kicking back with friends or family.

Walking into The Rose feels like stepping into a welcoming, well-loved local hideaway. The interior perfectly combines traditional pub charm and modern touches with dark wood panelling, comfy booths, and a lively but relaxed vibe. It’s the kind of place where the TV shows the game, the music is just the right volume for conversation, and the low hum of chatter creates a warm, friendly buzz. Whether you’re in the mood for a casual lunch or a night out with friends, The Rose hits that sweet spot between casual and fun.

The highlight of the space, though, has to be the large, inviting bar area where everyone gathers to chat and sip their drinks. On a sunny day, the outdoor patio is a great spot to hang out, with ample seating and a lovely view of the surrounding area—perfect for enjoying a cold beer or cocktail with a good conversation.

The Rose truly shines because of its people. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm smiles and a genuine sense of hospitality. The staff here know how to make you feel at home—whether they’re chatting with regulars like old friends or guiding newcomers through the menu with a friendly recommendation. It’s easy to tell that the team behind the bar and in the kitchen cares about the place, making every visit feel like a special occasion.

Drinks arrive quickly, the service is always prompt, and if you’re undecided on what to order, you can count on the staff to give you a solid suggestion (or even a sample). You’ll leave feeling like you’re part of the neighbourhood, whether you’ve been there once or a hundred times.

The Rose isn’t just about excellent service and good vibes—it’s also got a solid menu. The food is the kind of pub fare you crave after a long day: hearty, satisfying, and full of flavour. From crispy fish and chips to savoury burgers and melt-in-your-mouth nachos, there’s something for everyone. The menu also includes some creative takes on classic dishes, like their loaded poutine or pulled pork sliders, which never disappoint.

Of course, a great pub is only complete with a solid drink menu, and The Rose delivers here, too. With a wide selection of local craft beers, classic cocktails, and wine options, there’s no shortage of choices to wet your whistle. Whether you’re into something hoppy, a perfectly poured pint of cider, or a refreshing cocktail, you’ll find something that suits your mood. And if you’re unsure what to get, ask the staff—they’re happy to point you in the right direction!

The Rose is exactly the spot you want in your neighbourhood: unpretentious, welcoming, and packed with good food, good drinks, and even better company. Whether you’re there to watch the game, celebrate a special occasion, or enjoy a casual meal, it’s the place that makes you feel like part of the family from the moment you walk in. It’s the perfect mix of comfort and fun, with a friendly vibe that’s hard to beat.

If you’re in the area and looking for a cozy, down-to-earth pub serving great food and an even better atmosphere, The Rose is the place to be. Come for the food, stay for the people, and leave with a smile.

Good food, great drinks, and an even more fantastic staff—what’s not to love...

I'll try again 😁 the patio is amazing. It was not busy. Sunny day nice shade. Some partiers some couples. I had walked from the Royal Bay beach after missing the bus and happy to find the Rose🌹 Service started strong. After ordering a drink and I wanted to wait to order food I was told just "shout out at any of us when you're ready." Service was happening around me but no one made it to my table for some time and I was skipped for happy hour last call. I was on my own and really had hoped to have a more positive Canada Day Experience. The server came to me and said I was told that you were drinking wine and chilling out. I'll let her know about that I would like another one and I won't be ordering. I ordered the salmon my bill and a take out box...hey I didn't know when anyone was going to visit my table again. Then the server after I had a few bites ready to take my payment. It was not the best first time experience. I felt marginalized. A bright moment was had when a friendly face appeared to talk down my umbrella. He took time to acknowledge me and say a few words which I appreciated. Sadly as I was packing up my dinner I noticed a hair in my food ...not mine. I still took the box ...worried about leaving it on the table like some kind of good. (The book I picked up at a little free library on my 4km...

We've been coming to the Country Rose since 2000. We've always liked the cozy atmosphere (although it did need some updating) and also we can walk home after a couple of drinks. Last night was the second time we've been in since the new owners took over. The first time we were in was in late September for dinner. It seemed quite bright and noisy. Last night we gave it a second chance, it's still bright and noisy. It was so noisy that we could barely carry on a conversation at the table. I realize it is a busy place, however perhaps a few area rugs could make a difference with the noise.

There are not a lot of items on the menu that appealed to me so I ordered the beef dip. I have to say it was delicious. The portions were large enough that not one of us at the table was able to finish our meals.

We will most likely return for a dance or music bingo but for a relaxing dinner out I will choose somewhere else in the future.

The server was nice, friendly, but we missed seeing Cheryl, our one familiar face. :)

I would give my meal 5 stars, the menu 4 stars (in general) but the noise level dropped my review...

Well unfortunately everything was great but I will no longer go for the great food and the the great atmosphere. The staff that has built the rose to what it is now and is what the rose is all about is one by one being terminated which has totally taken all the fun out of going there. It is what it is but from what I see if you have a mind of your own / are very fun and efficient/ do your job with pride please do not apply for a job. Go to the Loghouse/ 17 mile house/ 4 mile / Buckys Anyway I have to have a couple drinks and enjoy myself now. I see you everywhere but the Rose Also unless you like getting last call at 8:30 on Wednesday or a Thursday i suggest you have your good times with friends somewhere else !! Cheers enjoy life and good people!! Ps this beer was $4 cheaper anywhere else šŸ˜‰

Excellent service and the most delicious food. Friday night at 6:30 it was a full house so we had a bit of a long wait but in the end we were seated and our drink orders were fulfilled promptly , followed by our food. I ordered the fish and chips and it was the best battered fish I have eaten in a long time…not to mention the delicious onion rings that my daughter ordered along with her famous Rose burger. All good, and we’ll be back every Friday!
