I consider myself a fast food chicken sandwich expert in addition to my work with metaphysics and the paranormal. I've studied both subjects extensively in the lower mainland and abroad while working as a visiting professor in Massachusetts.
I can honestly say this is the worst restaurant I've ever ran up against in my 20 years of work. It's not to say that Church's Chicken is bad, I respect their take on chicken sandwiches. It's just the complete disregard for everything that takes place here. You can order a basic chicken breast sandwich (I do so because I believe cheese on a chicken sando is a sin and this one does not have it) and yet get cheese and spicy mayo. I'm a purist, I like the crispy chicken to speak for itself, and a companies mayo is an unspoken hero. Clearly your employees don't know your own products or quite frankly don't care.
Now I know, it may have been a delivery issue, so I ventured there myself with some colleagues after a long night at the Lougheed pub nearby. What did I see? We ordered three sandwiches. Mine the chicken breast, my friends the mexicana and tex supreme. All non spicy. It took over an hour for them to fry. Once done the person in front grabbed the nearest bottle of spread and squirted all of them with a god awful spicy sauce in quick succession. They also put cheese on my chicken breast sandwich which it is not supposed to come with! That's not the product! Look at your website! It's clearly there!
My colleague complained and was met with rolled eyes and a note that it would take more time to rectify it. The employees were incredibly rude. At this point we accepted our losses and left. Honestly, I blame management. Even at KFC it is a choice to get spicy or non spicy and they also know how to craft each individual sandwich. They don't concoct something new because they can't be bothered to care. They certainly don't line sandwiches up and squirt them before your eyes with whatever sauce they have on hand.
To management: get your crew in order. Church's has some decent offerings yet you make a mockery of them. I certainly feel embarrassed after convincing my colleagues to come to this location. When you're somehow below the bar that KFC sets.... that's just sad. When I returned home to my feline friend kelloggs, I could barely eat what I had bought. Either fix your issues or sell your business to a more...
Read moreThis location is not my favourite one, but it's the one I used to frequent before I moved from the area, and the staff are typically pleasant and the food is good. Last night I went there with a friend and we ordered 5 items to go, which equaled 2 boxes, one pouch of poppers, a pot of gravy and one wrapped sandwich. When we got to our destination we unpacked and realized they forgot the sandwich. This may seem pretty minor, but it's close to $10 and I can't tell you the trouble it caused. My friend felt bad for not noticing since he took the bag, my wife felt bad because I then felt obligated to give her my chicken since I failed to bring her the sandwich she asked for when I offered to get her something, I felt stupid for not checking myself, and because technically I could have gone back and corrected it, but I felt even stupider borrowing my friends car (he drove) just to get a sandwich I failed to check on when we were at the counter. I also felt bad because I was incredibly hungry after not eating most of the day. The reason I am explaining all this is because (believe it or not) I have a point;
I don't really mind the screw ups when packing an order. It's a stressful job, especially after the pandemic, and the staff do their best. I think they are generally excellent. I certainly don't enjoy bagging on anyone in the service industry. However, the team member serving us pulled a Popeye's and laid out the order receipt next to the bag and appeared to be checking everything as it got picked up. This is what Popeye's does and they are always flawless when it comes to handing off an order. I think this location learnt from that and implemented that practice, but didn't teach the staff how to do it properly, rather than how to just make it look like you are doing it. And that really instills a false sense of accuracy and dependability when watching your order get put together because it appears as if you wouldn''t need to check it because they just did. That's my entire point and only real gripe with this location.
For the record I do recommend this restaurant, I just suggest you thoroughly check you bag before leaving, even if it's a small...
Read moreUpdate: Standards here have been dropping, and I finally decided to stop visiting this restaurant. Came here about a month ago, the fried chicken I ordered was drenched on the top side, and it wasn’t oil because the liquid was cold and the chicken was hot. I felt sick after taking a few bites and threw away the rest of my food. The floors are always a little grimy and the serving trays feel oily too. I think this place is due for a major cleanup.
Previous Opinions: It's strange that some Church's chicken locations make fried chicken better than other locations. This is definitely one of the better ones.
Service here is pretty good most of the time, and it's great that they are open 24/7 so you can get fried chicken whenever you want! One of my only complaints was that the floor always seemed to be a bit sticky, and the washrooms often took your appetite away. However, they have recently picked up on the hygiene and it's now a very pleasant environment to dine in! They accept SPC card here so you can get a nice 10% discount on your purchases.
Regarding accessibility, note that there aren't a lot of parking spaces available, and there is no drive-thru option. Quite often, third-party takeout vendors would be parked in the parking spaces while they wait for their orders. The times between 12.30 pm and 1.30 pm are usually busy times as students from Coquitlam College would be having their lunch time. It's not a very big restaurant so you might want to order for...
