My comment is based on an unacceptable racist incident that occurred on September 9, 2024 at about 1:30 AM. My wife and I have been regular weekly patrons of this McDonald's as loyal customers, and in the three years since we moved to the Lougheed neighborhood every experience prior to this incident has been a pleasant one. The one incident that was unacceptable to me was the experience regarding ordering late at night, my wife and I decided to enter the lobby through the front door to order after seeing people coming and going in and out of the lobby, but were told by an Indian employee that the front door of the restaurant was closed and if we wanted to order we could use the drive-thru. During my conversation with the clerk, a delivery man and another white male arrived at the front door of the restaurant, and after relaying what I had just said to the Indian clerk, my wife and I approached the drive-thru window to place our order. The restaurant's drive-thru service is divided into three sections: the ordering area, the payment area, and the pick-up area. I waited in the ordering area and said hi for about a minute without getting a response. I walked on until I met a friendly black male clerk at the pickup area. I explained the situation to him and he told me I could just order in the lobby My wife and I were confused by the different answers from the two clerks but still returned to the main entrance at one time. The front door was still locked and I saw that the white customer had just entered the lobby so I knocked on the door to get the clerk's attention to help me open it. One of the clerks saw me knocking on the door and spoke to the black clerk, I couldn't hear what was going on because of the glass, but I could guess that the black clerk was communicating with the employee that he wanted us to come into the lobby and order, but it seemed like the conversation wasn't going well. The clerk gave an impatient look and showed his hands and then asked the Indian employee who had started the conversation to talk to us. I wish I had a whole paragraph on the behavior of the Indian employee because it was unacceptable. The Indian employee first explained to us that the lobby was closed and that we could use the drive-thru, but he dodged the question when I asked him to explain the behavior of a new customer coming into the lobby to order. I then asked him why no one answered me when I used the drive-thru, and the Indian employee stated that the drive-thru is for customers who drive. Since I don't drive and can't use it gosh that's the most ridiculous answer I've ever heard in my life, I told him that my home is only 10 meters away from this McDonald's and that it's even faster to walk than to drive. But no matter how much I asked he still refused to answer. My wife and I were deeply shocked and lost. It's worth noting that I've had more than one experience walking to order from a drive-thru late at night. I politely asked the manager of the store to answer two questions: 1. Why were white customers who came after me allowed to enter the lobby to order? Is McDonald's a restaurant that provides a different quality of service based on the color of the customer's skin? 2. Why is it not possible to order on foot at the drive-thru? As a 24-hour restaurant, shouldn't it at least offer at least one way for customers to order? Is the Indian employee who frequently mentions that you have to drive to the restaurant targeting customers by social class? As an Asian, I have always enjoyed the friendly and inclusive community atmosphere of the lougheed neighborhood, and tonight's incident has forced me to take a second look at the neighborhood. Why are white customers allowed in the lobby and Asians are not? Why are customers who drive allowed to order food and those who don't? I can accept uniform standards but not double standards based on race. I hope I can get an explanation from the restaurant manager and an apology from...
Read moreI head to this location after 12am-3am when I’m drunk (my sober gf driving).you’ll often see review of “drive through is slow blah blah blah etc” some people don’t understand they have a system reboot which results in the delay but that’s besides the point. Everytime I come by at such a late hour and always asking for a picky order ie “made fresh please” I have been welcomed with politeness and gratitude for my order. Some people are always polite and nice even working nights shift (beats me, I’ve done it and I’m a monster during those hours).nonetheless to my surprise, not only was the male who was getting off at 3am was super polite with my order and payment but as I rolled to the last window to pick up my order (you can tell this lady was tired) she was polite, gracious and patient as I check the bag for the sauces to my delicious nuggets that were made fresh (I know this cause while we were digging through the order it was hot af [she told us “don’t burn your hands”]) she didn’t make a fuss but told us have a good night after. They all deserve a raise and i send my utmost gratitude for their work (hope they see this) and attitude during the graveyard shift. Thanks guys, I made sure to drop by this one while I drove by other McDonald’s on the way home. To the owner, they deserve a raise if not, at least a gift card for their consistent service. I devoured my freshly made cheeseburger (delicious btw) but thought I’d post something to legitimize...
Read moreNever had a good experience at this location. As Forrest Gump would say: you never know what you're going to get. Drive through screen tells you its 24 bucks but then you get to the window and the grade 2 math drop out tells you 27 bucks. Whatever. Before you pull away after getting your puke food make sure everything is there. Your going to need the dipping sauce if you want those dry chicken nuggets that have been sitting for two hours under some warmer. And just cause my kid got a kids meal doesn't mean she wants the bun folded in half. You must be a real special burger flipper to not know how a bun is supposed to sit on a hamburger. And although you don't know what a proper ratio of onions is to put on a burger, that was too much. Lucky my wife likes onions. Anyways to most of you employees there, I wish you luck in your future employment endeavors because working a till or a grill really isn't your strong point. Perhaps you would be more suitable picking up trash off the freeway or maybe even shooting needles in your arm. Seems like you may already be use to that. Whatever you decide to do, just get out of the McDonald's industry. You're really no good at it. Leave it to some who can complete elementary school with at least a c-. Ps. To the dummy at the window who told me 27 bucks not 24 because you didn't make my nuggets a meal, you f'd up. Own it...
