The following review is reflective of all White Spots and has been emailed to them directly.
I have been a long-time fan and patron of White Spot since I was a child (as many BC residents are). It has always been a place where I can go for excellent food in terms of quality and quantity, as well as being an environment which has been welcoming and warm. When relatives or friends from out-of-town visit, I always make sure that a stop at a White Spot is on the itinerary.
However, in the last few years I have noticed the quality of White Spot's menu has waned to the point where now it seems like White Spot is no longer a "go-to" brand. With my latest experience, I wouldn't recommend White Spot to anyone anymore.
It began when the Tuscan Chicken Pasta changed noodles from Bow Ties to Spiral Macaroni several years ago. This changed the texture of one of my favorite dishes as the noodles were harder. Now, this item is no longer on the menu. The signature "endless fries" has also been one of my favorites when ordering a burger, however the fries now are often bland and hard whereas they used to be crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
Then I noticed that prices started to increase. Most menu items are now closer to $20.00. Other restaurants offer better food for less price at the $12-$15 range, such as Ricky's. Also, how can it be that a Monty Mushroom burger combo at White Spot is $17.49, while the same combo can be ordered at your Triple O's for $11 and change?! In fact, ALL of the White Spot Burger Combos that have Triple O equivalents are sold for $6-7 more!!!! This is outrageous!
Today, one of our items ordered was the Lasagna with Salad for $17.99. It's image online and description made it enticing: "Layers of fresh pasta, our house-made bolognese sauce, spinach, mozzarella, Parmesan & Romano baked in a personal-sized skillet. Chargrilled garlic panini." What we received was FAR from what was in the image. It was in a square container, barely filling a little more that half of it width-wise. It stood maybe 1 inch tall, and the goop of "cheese" made it look like a popped-zit.
We had also ordered a Monty Mushroom Burger Combo, added a "Western" plate. The burger was fine, but as mentioned the price was already more than the Triple O's equivalent. What was shameful was that even with the additional price for the Western Plate, we received 3 onion rings. 3 rings, not 4 as what usually comes with the Western Plate.
I'm saddened to see one of my favorite chains deteriorate like this. Its driving away clientele and fans. The quality is no longer there. The food isn't "welcoming" like it used to be. The organization seems to be looking to increase profits by cutting corners and its becoming obvious.
White Spot, please take this feedback and fix your brand because its breaking. Your standards need to elevate up to what...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars I would but in order to prevent others from making the mistake I did I gave them the star. (even though they do NOT deserve any) Ordered food for the first time as a visitor to Vancouver I decided to take a friends recommendation. As a friend to the public I will share my horrific experience to prevent others from making the mistake I did. I am a vegetarian and ordered a cobb salad. I asked for the chicken to not be included because I didn't want to have anything prepared I would eat and to substitute perhaps bread as a fair trade. I was told this was fine. I also asked instead of the bacon to have an extra egg (again as a fair trade) to get my protein in. I was told this wasn't a problem and my fiancé went to get pick up the food. It arrived with a chicken, no bread and no egg. I was floored. I also decided to not get upset because these things happen and i waited until everyone ate their dinner and sent my fiancé to get the egg and bread i ordered. Mind you when we called about the mishap the people said it didn't come with bread and pretended we didn't have the original conversation when I ordered the food. Then after the second trip which yes they gave a couple for a free entre (one I obviously won't use as an out of towner) I finally sat down to eat my dinner an hour and a half after everyone else. I added the dressing to the salad and when shaking it notices the ham and bacon lodged inside the food. I was now very frustrated. Having nothing to eat and basically after everyone ate still hopeful to eat I called the restaurant. The manager kept telling me I was wrong for how I ordered and basically made this all MY fault. Even if it was, which it most certainly was not, the customer is always right. Learn customer service!!! How to handle complaints. I am mortified that customer service can be this bad. Absolutely floored. I hope this helps anyone make an educated decision when choosing where to go for dinner. Beware! Stay away...
Read moreCame here with my friend after a hike and usually everything tastes great after a workout. Usually.
Came at 5:20pm today and ordered a spaghetti and meatballs which was less than stellar. Friend ordered a chicken sandwich which came out partially raw the first time.
One server asked if i needed anything, i asked for fresh parmesan cheese. She replies want more? I noticed the cheese already on the pasta, so i said nevermind it's okay. Friend asked for extra tartar sauce. Server came back with extra parmesan cheese.
The raw sandwich was taken back and an extra dish of fries was given while he waited. Took awhile to get a new one brought out. Eventually the chicken sandwich came out when the fries and my meal were practically finished.
I was about to phone the restaurant as we waited for the server to get the bill. We gave them an extra 3 minutes and she came at the very last second. Asked if we wanted the bill seperate or together. At this point, one would expect my friend's bill to be complimentary. So she brought the bill over together and we simply asked to speak to the manager about the food on the bill. The server went to check with the manager and came back stating that the manager forgot to take it off.
We insisted on seeing the manager. At this point he just came over and said that the meal is on them. Without any acknowledgement of his mistake, he walked away as if it didn't matter. This carelessness is most likely the root of all the other issues described above.
I've had far better service and standard from other White Spot locations even on their bad day. I insist that you not go to this location and eat elsewhere. I appreciate you taking the time to read this lengthy review. Feel free to check out my other reviews to confirm this quality of review. Enjoy...
