Summer 2022: Cute little spot at the end of Wyse Rd. The neighborhood was overdue for something like this. Friendly staff. Three or four two-seater tables inside, that opens up (garage-door style) to a perfect little patio. Lights strung at night to give a cozy feel. I've only actually been twice so far, each time getting the breakfast sandwich. Delicious, unique tasting with mortadella, pickles, lettuce, fried egg, gooey melted cheese, on a buttery seeded bun. (My description from memory, not copied from their menu). Doesn't come with a side, but each time has been filling enough for me. Good, fresh chocolate chip cookies and chocolate cream puffs. My one wish would be that the hot breakfast menu is expanded. I definitely will come for lunch or dinner soon.
Jan 2023: They got a new breakfast sandwich (woo-hoo! Nothing against the former one!) Peameal bacon, gooey melted cheese, soft brioche-style bun, quite greasy, but very good. Tried the creme Brule cookie too, and quite good (crunchy on the outside, soft and custardy on the inside, sweet, but not too sweet). This visit three of the four tables were taken at 11am, with a few customers popping in for take-out.
Sept 2023: tried their peach cookies, which are so adorable. A cream & jam inside was unexpected. Small, not too sweet. The iced lattes are excellent.
2024-2025: I still love this place and its delicious, greasy breakfast sandwiches. They are opening later on Saturday mornings (10am vs 9am), which will prevent me from going there. I understand the reasoning is that staff need more time to prep for the busy day ahead/success. I just wish they'd come in earlier to prep for the busy crowd. As a person who logs in to work at 8am for a professional job, I wish that there were businesses open earlier. I'd love to support them for early...
Read moreRead moreWe finally checked out Ori Foods this weekend and it’s a very cute spot. Super small but done nice and the server we had ,(a recent hire), was very nice. My girl and I were super hungry and when I looked online I felt like this place wasn’t too expensive and would be a good choice for a quick and delicious lunch. Unfortunately the portions here are very small. I noticed they had Lemon Tarts that looked amazing so we promptly ordered two of those and a couple sandwiches to share. The Lemon Tarts came first so we started with dessert and they are one of the best lemon tarts I’ve had. Basically a perfect 5/5 on those even though they are kinda small for $7; the size is made up for by the flavour and fresh strawberries on top! We shared the breakfast sandwich and the Brisket on Rye, so half of each for my girl and I, and we left hungry. The breakfast sandwich was kinda bland with a really nice bun and the Brisket on Rye was tasty but super thin and I felt it was difficult to get a good bite without all the meat coming out at once. I don’t feel I got a great value for the $50 I spent on lunch but I did enjoy the tart and might return for dessert and coffee. I also don’t really like paying/tipping before I get my food/experience a place. Sides with the sandwiches and bigger portions for slightly more cost would be nice and maybe all-day breakfast on weekends since they close at 4pm and breakfast is 9am-11am. 5/5 for dessert, 5/5 on ambiance, 5/5 customer service, 2/5 on each sandwiches, 2/5 value. Overall a 3.5/5 but google doesn’t allow partial stars so I’m giving a 3/5 based on how hungry I was after lunch and feeling rather...
I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant today. I ordered a cake and specifically asked the server to confirm if it contained any alcohol, as it was for my two-year-old child. The server assured me that there was no alcohol, so I trusted her and let my child eat it. However, when I tasted it myself, I realized the cake clearly had alcohol in it.
I went back to the server, and after checking with the kitchen, she confirmed that the cake indeed contained alcohol. Although the server offered to refund the cost of the cake, there was no apology at all. Even when the manager came out, they only explained that the cake contained alcohol, but still offered no apology.
As a restaurant, customer safety and trust should be the top priority, but in this case, I felt neither responsibility nor sincerity. I hope the restaurant takes this issue seriously to prevent it from happening again...
