Disappointing Overcooked Pizza and Poor Customer Service!!!
I have given Yeah Yeahs Pizza multiple chances, but my recent experiences have been nothing short of disappointing. As someone who hails from Napoli, I understand the nuances of a well-made pizza, and unfortunately, Yeah Yeahs Pizza falls drastically short.
On one occasion, my pizza was overcooked to the point of being crunchy in some areas. In my past experiences, the pizzas were cooked almost correctly; I gave them a pass mark because I like thin crust and have accepted that I can’t have a great traditional Neapolitan pizza in North America. When I showed them a photo of the overcooked pizza on my next visit, I was told that this is their standard way of making pizza. This explanation was inconsistent with my previous orders, which were cooked almost correctly. I was advised to request the pizza “undercooked” to avoid this issue in the future, which speaks about their quite bizarre attitude: to get what in the rest of the world is a standard normally cooked pizza, I needed to ask for an undercooked one!
When I did so, the person taking the order over the phone did not understand my request, resulting in yet another disappointing experience. To top it off, they made a mistake on my order the last time I visited, and due to a lack of dough, they could only offer a small discount instead of rectifying the order. The pizza was still slightly overcooked, but I chose not to complain.
Today, when I attempted to place an order, I was informed that they would no longer take orders from me. This level of customer service is appalling and unacceptable. Rather than addressing the issues, they have chosen to turn away a customer who has given them multiple chances to improve.
For anyone seeking quality pizza, there are better options in Halifax. Pizzeria Morris offers superior pizzas cooked in an actual wood oven at comparable prices. Alternatively, Ristorante a Mano provides a better quality, thin-crust pizza cooked perfectly in an electric oven. For a true Italian ‘pizza al taglio’ Sapori is the place to go to…and for a truly wood-fired authentic Neapolitan pizza experience, Trattoria Vesso is an excellent choice. They are AVPN® certified (True Neapolitan Pizza Association - Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana), and I go there when I want to treat myself. However, for a takeout pizza, Morris would be my choice at a comparable price range. Even the frozen pizza at Atlantic Superstore, such as PC Hand-Tossed Margherita or Funghi, is cooked to the right point.
Additionally, I did not mention the ambiance, which is not inviting. It feels like a mix between a fast food and a basic restaurant. While it looks pretentious from the outside, the inside is cold and not inviting at all.
Yeah Yeahs Pizza needs to reassess their attitude and focus on improving their product and customer service. Turning away customers who seek nothing more than a properly cooked pizza is not the way to run a business.
My two starts on food is generous and takes into consideration the average quality of...

We order pizza (from other places) more than I'd like to admit; lately the experience has become nothing more than quick sustenance and not fulfilling otherwise. Last night, as a special occasion, we ordered a White and a Marghareta (or however it's spelled) from Yeah Yeahs (for the first time). You have to pick it up but it was ready in less than 15 minutes. It was for two of us, I figured because it's thin crust that we'd need two to fill us up.
This was the best pizza experience I've had in such a long time. As I chewed I felt perhaps more relieved than I should have for finally finding the right place. Two pizzas was too much for the two of us (not factoring leftovers of course) and we're big eaters (and that was without meat by the way). The crust, sweet and crunchy. The cheese, salty and cheesy. Deliciousness. Other flavours, too.
When I was having it for leftovers at lunch today, I was saying how I couldn't wait to do this again as I was biting. And I still feel this way.
For the two pizzas the price was maybe higher than I'm used to (rightfully so compared to chains and such) but we didn't need two and may or may not just get one next time, which would really change the equation in the wallet regard.

Read moreI'd had a pepperoni slice a couple years ago that was really good so last night we decided to order "the meat" and garlic fingers. It's a little more expensive than your average pizza place. I assume it's because it's above two if by sea and got that hipster vibe. The boxes were really light to carry and when i opened them, I could tell why. The pizza barely had any sauce, cheese or toppings. I held a slice up to the window and could see light through most of the slice. Hanging, it vertically, nothing even fell off because there wasn't really anything on the pizza to begin with.
The sauce was dried onto the crust because there wasn't much of it and there was no cheese to protect it. A couple pieces of pepperoni and bacon on each piece. The garlic fingers had so much plain dough around the edge, and barely any cheese it was so dry and chewy. I feel like I could have gotten a loaf of french bread from wal-mart for $1 and had the same meal.
the only redeeming factor was the donair sauce. it was pretty garlicky. but with so much plain dough, I really needed like 5 containers instead of the 1 that...
