Deep River Specialty Candy and Cafe — Restaurant in Deep River

I used to stop by this candy store every couple of weeks, mainly because of Cathy. She was such a kind, welcoming presence and always made the visits enjoyable. She goes above and beyond for her customers. Without her, the store just isn’t the same.

The products themselves leave a lot to be desired. The baked goods are often stale, and one of the muffins I tried even made me sick. I don't know how long they keep their baked goods on the shelf for, but the ones I had were not fresh. Prices are much higher than the quality justifies, and there aren’t many options for people looking for diabetic-friendly or gluten-free treats.

They also started selling pizza and hot dogs a little while back, which makes no sense for a candy store. Instead of focusing on fresh, inclusive options, they’ve stretched into food that doesn’t fit. A single slice of their pizza was about $4 when i bought one, but for the same price you can get a much larger, tastier slice at Godfather’s Pizza.

The only product I enjoyed was the hot chocolate from the machine.

This place I walked into the manager was sitting down. I was in there for two minutes. The lights were dimmed the time I was there. I hardly could see anything at the time before they fix the lights and the manager did not even try and help me once in the two minutes, I was in there. It was the worst experience for bad customer service in my life When a customer is in there for two minutes usually somebody ask them if they need help. We stopped in for ice cream last night after a recommendation from another family. We were told the price of ice cream was excellent, it was, there was plenty of choices. The owner was serving us, and was extremely pleasant. I’ve also met a woman who worked there during the day, and she was wonderful and very kind.
